The annual monarch migration is underway.

Monarch migration is upon us. 🦋 We can see butterflies moving through the park from as early as then end of August through to mid-October. Their migration is very weather dependent, which makes predicting when and if we will get any large groups of Monarchs gathering in the park difficult. Typically, we’ve seen our largest groups in mid-September, but we’ve been surprised with large roosts earlier and later than this time. Watch this page for updates after Labour Day weekend. Here are some tips about monarch migration: 1. They tend to move on cold fronts, and numbers of monarchs will only build when weather conditions (rain, wind or temperature) prevent them from crossing Lake Erie. 2. Resting monarchs are best viewed at the Tip just before sunset or in the early morning – look for sheltered areas near the tops of trees. 3. And remember, monarchs with closed wings look like dead leaves, so a pair of binoculars will come in handy.

We had a wonderful dinner at Oxley Beach Golf Course last night. We had hummus & pita, a fattoush salad with chicken that was really, really top notch and a chicken shawarma in a pita that was delicious, all while sitting on their beautiful patio overlooking the greens. Check out their menu and golfing as well! LOCAL SECRET they do takeout orders!
