Did you know that we have our own uniquely designed candles that represent East Hants? Each candle has a lovely scent and a little token inside. The labels have been designed with care to best reflect our wonderful area. These make a great gifts for someone that has moved from the area or has visited and wants to take a piece of East Hants home with them.

I was honored to participate in the 17th International Symposium for Early and Late Vertebrates recently. It was amazing to talk to many paleontologists from around the world about fossils from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. I had the opportunity to showcase Lower Cove and the classic section of the Joggins Fossil Cliffs to a group of people who had read about Joggins but were so excited to see the cliffs for the first time. I was able to show them the famous fossil locations of Lyell and Dawson, as well as where more recent discoveries were made during my lifetime. The following day, I accompanied them to Cape Breton, where I have been working for the past 14 years. One of the highlights was showing them where I found the reptile Dendromaia along the coast. It’s not easy to express how excited I was to meet several of these paleontologists whom I had only read about in the past.

Today’s is a Bay of Fundy porcelain agate. This one is a very unique multi-coloured porcelain agate with some black fortification. It closely resembles some agates from Kentucky with the yellow and black but this is our version where you can see the small plumes in the bottom half of the stone.
