We need your support to stop the use of Surrons on the new pump track at the top of the Bike Ranch. This track was designed for small-wheeled scooters, skateboards, and bicycles—not motorized vehicles. The attached photos show the significant damage these Surrons have caused, which threatens the future use and enjoyment of this fantastic community asset.

We’ve seen incredible community support for the new pump track, and we want to keep it looking and functioning at its best for everyone.

To address this issue, we have requested bylaw officers to monitor the track. If the misuse continues, we will escalate the matter to the RCMP. It’s crucial to understand that the presence of motorized vehicles on the track poses a serious risk to all users, including those on scooters, bicycles, and skateboards. Mixing these vehicles can lead to severe injuries.

If you witness the misuse of the track, please report it to Kamloops Community Services at 250-828-3409. In cases where people are at risk, contact the RCMP non-emergency line at 250-828-3000.

Let’s work together to maintain the integrity and safety of our pump track. Please spread the word and help us keep this space safe and enjoyable for all!

Please come help clean up the Kamloops Bike Ranch !

Garbage pick day at the KBR June 2, 10am to 12pm!
The Ranch is in need of a clean-up for many reasons, such as cleanliness, safety, and fire risk mitigation.
We will be hosting this pick-up day with support from the KPCC and the city.
Meet at the bottom parking lot at 10 a.m., and the shuttle will provide you with garbage bags and take you to the top. From there, we will assign trails for people to walk down and collect. Items too heavy to pack will be collected at a dump trailer halfway down. All regular bags will be dropped off near the dumpster by the arena.
Brian will lead a group to help remove some of the old structures and legacy wood items.
Gloves are recommended for this event and proper foot wear.
Participants will receive a few complimentary shuttles for their efforts, and shuttle service will start near noon.
Many hands will make quick work of this, and we ask for your support.
You will need to sign a waiver prior to start up.
Let's clean up our Ranch!

The Kamloops Performance Cycling Club (KPCC) is deeply concerned about recent incidents of vandalism and fires being started at the Kamloops Bike Ranch. This bike park is a treasured community resource, providing a safe and exciting space for cyclists of all ages and skill levels.

Recently, there have been traces of two fires where individuals were burning wood and attempting to burn wood structures within the Bike Ranch. These acts not only endanger the safety of our riders but also have a strong potential for causing significant damage or harm to the whole community.

In addition to these fires, tools have been stolen from the trail crew, signs have been ripped down, waterlines cut, and there has been vandalism to the timing trailer and timing equipment rendering it completely unusable which cancelled our spring race series, along with many other items.
These acts of vandalism threaten the integrity and future of the park.

We urge everyone in the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities immediately.
Please report all incidents to the RCMP non emergency line
250-828-3000, or 911 for Police or Fire Emergency,
Kamloops Community Services 250-828-3409 and email [email protected].

Let’s work together to protect and preserve the Kamloops Bike Ranch. If you see something, say something. Together, we can ensure that our park remains a safe and enjoyable place for all.

Thank you for your support.

Trail crew has been working hard to get the Ranch ready for riders this season and despite some serious vandalism setting us back, we are opening early!
Weather pending the Ranch will be open to ride Friday March 29th /24.
Big thank you to trail crew, Jeremy Hole, and Brian from Mostly Mental Shuttles for the above and beyond work to make this happen.
Please be respectful if weather changes and refrain from riding if it’s muddy and your tires are damaging the trails. Also avoid riding through the pump track construction zone at the top and use the access on either side of it.

NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION
The area known as the ‘Upper Jump Corral’ (at the top of the bike ranch) is being developed into the ‘Kamloops All-Wheels Pump Track’ facility. The Kamloops All-Wheels Pump Track (the ‘Project’) is a development Project that is primarily funded by the Destination Development Fund from the Province of British Columbia’s, Ministry of Tourism.

The project is led by the Kamloops Sports Council(KSC), in partnership with the Kamloops Performance Cycling Centre (KPCC) and Tourism Kamloops (TK), it is approved by the City of Kamloops (CoK). The Project is separated into two phases, 1) site preparation, 2) pump track construction.

Beginning on December 5th 2023, the Upper Corral is considered CLOSED (the entire Kamloops Bike Ranch is closed to users as of November 30th, 2023 seasonally) and will remain closed until all construction activities are considered complete. Anticipated completion is July 1st, 2024.

WHAT IS A PUMP TRACK?

A pump track is a continuous loop of ‘berms’(banked corners), rollers (humps) and jumps, where riders use an up and down ‘pumping’ motion to propel themselves forward instead of pedalling or pushing. Pump tracks are often used to build skill, there are also competitive events for this discipline.

MORE ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Kamloops All-Wheels Pump Track facility is a project to develop three asphalt pump tracks within the Kamloops Bike Ranch facility. Upon completion there will be a beginner and intermediate track optimized for all types of wheeled sports (skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, adaptive mountain bikes, wheelchairs*, run bikes, and bicycles), with an expert level pump track suitable for competitive cycling events. The project also includes a asphalt jump line and additional parking stalls. All trees will remain. *Wheelchairs suitable for off-road and action sports.

CONSTRUCTION TIMELINE:
Phase 1 - Site preparation and pad construction. December 2023 to April 2024.
Phase 2 - Pump track construction. April 2024 to July 2024.
Estimated opening mid July 2024.

IMPACT TO THE PUBLIC
The public is advised that during construction access to the ‘Upper Corral’ of the Bike Ranch is closed to all. Users may access the trails via the double track or XC Climb trail. Intermittent noise, machinery and increased traffic may occur between 7:30am and 5:00pm, Monday through Saturday.
