Robyn was born and raised in the Okanagan, where she developed her love for the outdoors from a young age. Outside among the rocks and trees, she feels grounded. She started climbing 6 years ago, which led her to seek opportunities to further her technical rope knowledge. Becoming a CGI canyon guide with us at the beginning of 2023 was an ideal progression for her! She’s very social, which shows through her guiding as well as her work as a teacher in the off-season.

Introducing another of our team members, Nathan!

Born and raised in the Okanagan, Nathan discovered adventure sports 5 years ago through climbing and has slowly been gaining more and more experience in the mountains. Their love for travel and adventure got them into canyoning a year ago, and they are hoping to pass their full guide cert this summer. Nathan is truly passionate about helping others explore and discover the outdoors through guiding as well as recreational trips.

As we are almost fully staffed for summer 2024, we figured it was a good time to start presenting our team. Let’s start with a few words from Guillaume about Irene, our powerhouse team member: ‘When you think of Irene, "tough love" immediately comes to mind. She's as sweet as can be with our clients, but she's not one to be messed with. As one of the guides who is managed daily by Irene, I can attest - she speaks her mind and won't hesitate to set things straight when necessary. She fills in the gaps and complements every aspect I might lack as the business owner, and I couldn't be happier to have her join us full-time in May 2024. Since 2021, she's been rocking our social media game like a pro, teaching herself the ropes along the way. From photography to marketing, she's been a driving force, and she's now taken charge of our bookings for the past month! And her role doesn't stop there—she's stepping up as our shuttle driver and one of our main assistant guides in 2024. What can’t she do?! Starting with just a few hours here and there, Irene has stuck with us through thick and thin, throwing herself wholeheartedly into every challenge we've faced. The more challenges, the more she thrives! Welcoming our first full-time office employee feels like a major milestone for us. It's a testament to the growth of the WCA Family, and with Irene on board, we're ensuring nothing slips through the cracks. She's our caring "mum" who loves us all but won't let us forget a thing!

It's been a very busy weekend here at Okanagan canyoning! And we could not have made it through without our three guides: Matt, Robyn, and Nathan! If you have come on a trip with us, who was your guide?

At the end of June we had the pleasure to have both all of our guides in the canyou at the same time which allowed one of them ( @robyn_soul ) to take pictures and videos from angles we normally would not be able to get while guiding. I don't know about you, but I think these turned out great!

It’s been a busy spring for the guides at WCA! In addition to preparing for a busy season in the Okanagan and the Rockies we are proud to be part of the 2023 Expedition Canada Adventure Race in the Okanagan. This Race is qualifying for AR World series and will include a Canyoning section for the first time this year. It’s been challenging preparation for allowing 80 participants to go through a canyon section in one day and required all the guides we could find. But after the safety talk and participants’ skills check yesterday we are confident that those teams will travel safely through the canyon and are excited to see all those athletes going through the Canyon! We would like to thank all our guides who are volunteering on this event and Expedition Canada for allowing us to be part of such an exciting event for our area!
