Dawson Smith Rugby update - Dawson Smith and his Team Eastern Ontario teammates met their arch rivals Central Ontario in the finals of the Eastern Canadian Rugby Championships this past Saturday in the winner-takes-all match up. Weather wise, it had rained all morning and as game time approached it was a dull and grey filled, overcast sky as they took to the turf at Nixon Field at Queen's University.

The tournament had been a battle of attrition for the EORU squad, as injuries prevented three of their starters from taking the field at the onset of the match. However, as all good teams do, the found a way to battle.

The game was a fantastic see-saw affair, but in the end, Team Central Ontario prevailed with a 29-15 win.

DAWSON SMITH RUGBY UPDATE - Dawson Smith and his Team Eastern Ontario squad had an outstanding week of pool play, going undefeated with a 3-0 record. The EORU (Eastern Ontario Rugby Union) set the standard early and often with their skill and scoring prowess, destroying New Brunswick 72-0 in a try filled opening game, followed up with another strong performance against PEI in a 43-14 win. This set the table for the two undefeated teams in the pool to meet for first place, bragging rights and and automatic bye to the final. In a nail bitter, Team Eastern Ontario literally pulled it out in the last seconds, defeating Team Central Ontario 15-14 to claim victory. The team will play Saturday afternoon, August 17th, for the championships. Let's Go Boys!
