The meeting between Immigration Minister Marc Miller and provincial representatives focuses on strategies to manage and control the rapid growth of immigration. This can lead to a more streamlined process and better outcome for immigrants and the country as a whole when all provinces, territories, and the federal government work together.
This includes the need of both temporary and permanent residents, support systems for newcomers, and addressing regional economic requirements alongside the community's capacity to accommodate population growth.
There’s still collaboration needed between Ottawa and the other provinces to address issues related to international students and the issuance of post-graduation work permits, ensuring alignment with labor market demands. Moreover, there are ongoing challenges related to the financial burdens of accommodating the growing influx of asylum seekers across Canada.
This clearly shows some remarkable changes in the coming future.
Miller said he and his counterparts discussed the balance between temporary and permanent residents as well as supports for newcomers.
