A place to retreat yourself from the daily grind..focus on a hobby and relaxation in a private cottage. Le Tuteur Cottage, a 2 bedroom newly renovated retreat. And La Chouette cottage, a private 4 bedroom 1 1/2 storey log cottage. This is our first step to enjoy cottage life in our very own cottage! We always enjoyed renting or visiting others at their cottages. We finally decided to bite the bull
et and bought a property with 2 cottages, one needing more TLC. The intention is to use one for our family vacations and the other for rental to like-minded cottage vacationers. The best of both worlds, city life and cottage life was for us! Having summered on Antoine's Point on Lake Temiscamingue growing up, I felt a strong attraction to the area and landed a 10 minute drive away on well known Lake Kipawa. My childhood was spent playing in the water, on the beach, boating and making new friends. They are some of the best memories of my life. A strong connection was established even before I was born. My grand father Albert Gobeil, first to build a camp on Antoine's Point and this amazing beach location still remains in our family today as a shared place to cherish. This area is considerably undeveloped and unsaturated to many cottager standards, is only about a 4 hour drive from the GTA and only an hour from North Bay! For Torontonians, half a day in the car and for residents of the North Bay area this is in your backyard. It is not bad at all for access to some majestic lakes and terrains to explore! Once we purchased the property, we began putting together a reno plan and prioritized the waterfront including the oldest cottage to render it functional and charming for renters expecting modern amenities such as running water, flush toilet with septic system, electricity and heat. Our goal was to maintain the appearance of the original cottage but improve where we thought a cottager would appreciate. And that my friends meant we needed new dock, decks and clean beach! Indoor renos included ripping everything out, walls, floors, ceilings, footings and replacing with updated products such as Roxul insulation, drywall, pine ceilings, etc. We ran into some challenges and the team worked together to get this place up and functional for our first guests, a family from North Bay. We were privileged to have had such a great start, great guests and we hope to keep pleasing all guests that use our cottage!
