Travel Advisory : Power Outages in Cuba

October 20, 2024

Due to a nationwide power outage, Transat and Air Transat are offering travellers heading to Cuba between October 20 and October 22, 2024, a flexible policy allowing them to modify their travel reservations if booked before October 18 at 11:59 PM.

All Cuban airports served by Air Transat are open and operating, either with electrical power or through generators. Our flights continue to operate as scheduled, although some hotel services may be temporarily unavailable.

We offer travellers the following options:

1. Travel as Planned

You have the option to maintain your trip as originally scheduled, provided that our flights are operational. However, if you choose to travel, no refunds or compensation will be granted in the event of interruptions due to the current situation.

2. Change Your Departure Date or Destination

You may change your departure date or destination to another destination served by Transat and Air Transat, with no change fees. If the new flight or package selected is more expensive than the originally planned one, you will need to pay the difference.

3. Cancel for a Travel Credit Refund

If you decide not to travel, you can cancel your reservation and receive a full refund in the form of a non-transferable travel credit (excluding any paid travel insurance premiums and Option Flex Standard and Option Flex Extra fees), which will be valid for one year from the originally scheduled departure date and can be applied to any purchase of products offered by Transat and Air Transat.

Egypt will cancel its pre-entry visa requirement for Canadian citizens, effective Dec. 1, 2024, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry revealed in a statement on Monday (Oct. 14). Canadians will once again have the option of obtaining a visa upon arrival at Egyptian airports of entry, or an electronic visa (e-visa), which will be reactivated.

Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)

As of November 27, 2024, Canadians will be able to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for travel on or after January 8, 2025.
You will need to apply for your ETA before travelling to or transiting through the UK. You must travel on the passport used for your ETA application.

Dear clients,

We wish to inform you about an important announcement from the Aruba government regarding a new fee for visitors, effective July 1st, 2024.

Starting in July 2024, Aruba will implement a $20 Sustainability Fee for visitors arriving by air. This fee is designed to support various projects aimed at enhancing and improving sustainability efforts on the island. Exemptions from this fee include residents, children under 8, repeat visitors who have already paid the fee within the same calendar year, and Aruban students studying abroad who have been residents within the past eight years.

The Sustainability Fee will be collected through the online Embarkation & Disembarkation (ED) Card platform, beginning July 1st, 2024.

Visitors will be required to pay the fee while completing the ED card to enter Aruba. Here is the link to the relevant platform:
