$50 to enter - you can register on our website, or bring cash in-person! All proceeds from this event go to PRO Kids - recreation funding for youth in Lunenburg County.

Paddle whatever vessel you please; bring a canoe, kayak, paddleboard, rowboat, etc! If you'd like to rent a kayak from us for an additional charge, please get in touch with us! We will have single kayaks and double kayaks available.

Stolen Kayaks! We're offering a reward for information that helps find two stolen kayaks. They were taken from a barn in the Lunenburg Area over the winter.
Current Design- Storm GT- yellow

MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE!
On Aug 13 we found 3 bottles with messages in them; set out to sea by our new "pen pals" Cove & Von!
We set one back right away, gave one to a family who was on a kayak tour with us to re-release on the Fundy Shore, and we added our own note to the third & sent it on its way out at the edge of Bluerocks Archipelago today.
Good luck little bottles!

We're so pleased to announce another year of our YOUTH KAYAK CAMP for kids who are going into grades 7 or 8!!!

This 5-day camp is a great opportunity for youth looking to improve their paddling. We'll spend each day from 9am to 3pm on the water, admiring wildlife, exploring the coast, and meeting new outdoor-loving friends!

All skill levels welcome!

Dates Available for 2023:

July 10th to 14th - For ages 12 to 14

July 17th to 21st - For ages 12 to 14

Are you ready to begin your paddling season and looking to build skills and knowledge?

This course provides the instruction and time to get a solid kayaking skill set for paddling in slightly rougher water on day trips. Our Sea Kayaking Level One Skills covers Paddle Canada Skill 1 course curriculum and participants can receive their Skills 1 Paddle Canada certification. The kayak and all safety equipment required are included in your lesson price.

Total Time - 16 hours (8 hours each day)
cost - $300 + tax per person

Part-Time and Full-Time Positions available

Our Office Workers (also known as Kayak Rental Attendants) are the backbone of Pleasant Paddling. They are most often the first point of contact for visiting paddlers, either over the phone or email, or in person. Our office staff cares about kayakers' experiences on the water, and works to facilitate enjoyable, safe and memorable times in Blue Rocks.

Many learning opportunities are available for our office staff!

Wage: $16-18 hourly starting wage (raises to be given after initial training period), plus tips
Start/End Dates: mid-May to mid-October

Qualifications:
-good customer service skills
-ability to multitask, be flexible and helpful
-strong sense of teamwork, as well as an ability to work independently
-well-organized, attention to detail
-strong written and verbal communication skills
-basic computer skills and willingness to learn company software, understanding of social media platforms
-First Aid certification
-must be punctual and professional, even though the work is in a relaxed recreation environment
-enjoyment for being outdoors; willingness to work outside with potential to get wet and dirty
-should be able to carry 50lbs in each hand (half the weight of a double kayak)

Assets:
-paddling experience/Paddle Canada certification
-VHF Operator’s License
-Wilderness First Aid Training
-knowledge of coastal flora and fauna, local history

Our guides are responsible for the enjoyment and safety of our clients during their tours through the Blue Rocks archipelago. They are properly certified and become familiar with the waterways, history, flora and fauna of the area. Office staff work hard to make sure tour guides are well supported. Pleasant Paddling encourages and supports opportunities for personal paddling, continued learning and personal growth.

Pleasant Paddling is a well-established kayaking outfitter that operates out of Blue Rocks, Nova Scotia. These are some of the most beautiful waters and coastline in Nova Scotia. We offer guided tours as well as rentals of kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.

Responsibilities & Duties
Lead and/or assist kayak tours
Welcome paddlers and facilitate introductions
Prepare gear, carry boats; orient paddlers to their equipment
Provide basic paddling and safety instruction; ensure on-water safety of group
Tell stories; share natural and cultural information; field questions
Monitor wind and weather conditions
Communicate with co-staff (both on water and in the office)
Post-tour clean-up

Qualifications & Skills
Paddle Canada Level 2
Wilderness First Aid Certification
Enthusiasm for learning and sharing natural, cultural, historical knowledge
Strong sense of teamwork, as well as an ability to work independently
Outgoing and friendly; comfortable with varied groups of individuals
Must be punctual and professional, even though the work is in a relaxed recreational environment
Participate in safety training and staff orientation at the beginning of the season
