GREAT NEWS FOR MY CUBAN TRAVELERS!

_Cuban tourism officials have announced that the country expects that by mid-August the likes of Canadian and American dollars and European euros will be widely accepted in Cuba, meaning that Canadians who don’t like using credit cards when abroad will shortly be able to use their own currency when buying the likes of bar drinks, restaurant meals, gift shop items and tour company excursions.

“If you want to pay (with Canadian) cash, you can,” Lessner Gomez, director of the Cuba Tourism Board’s office said during a Thursday Toronto gathering with senior officials from Cuban tourism firm Gaviota."

If you're traveling on highway 17 and need a great rest spot between Sturgeon Falls and North Bay you need to check out Jocko Point Gen7 Fuel, a self- and full-serve gas station on Nipissing First Nation.
You will also find a 17 hour fully stocked Convenience Store, Ice cream and some of the best fish & chips around.
I couldn't resist snapping a selfie with this locally crafted wooden figure...and yes he is for sale!

Glad Midsommar! ☀️
Midsommer, also known as Jonsok, is a joyous celebration of the summer solstice in Norway, the longest and brightest day of the year. Norwegians traditionally light bonfires to ward off evil spirits, enjoy festive meals, and dance around a maypole adorned with flowers and greenery. 🇳🇴
What are your favorite Midsommar traditions?
Today I will be baking Bløtkake for tomorrow's party and feast.

Destination Ontario. Mini Vacation Road Trip.
On the way home and this is always our almost half way there pit stop. The Big Apple .
They are completely "furry friend" friendly and have a great dog park. You can watch the delicious pastries being assembled, play a round of mini put, pet the farm animals, enjoy a variety of foods from the inside restaurants or food trucks (on the weekends) you can even enjoy a cold pint. Of course I cannot forget the amazing marketplace with all sorts of wonderful treats. If you're a chocolate lover this is definitely your spot!
Plan to spend some time when you do stop so that you can enjoy everything The Big Apple has to offer.

Destination Ontario. Mini Vacation Road Trip
Today was all about the critters. Yes those are giraffes!
Our final stop today was at Safari Niagara, less than half an hour from the falls, and I just cannot say how much I enjoyed it. I absolutely recommend Safari Niagara when you're in the area. The animals, the peddle boats, the fun race way mini bikes and everything else that is included in the price of your ticket makes this the perfect budget friendly family activity.

First stop was The Bird Kingdom in Niagara Falls. If you love birds as I do this is a must do activity when visiting the falls.

Destination Ontario. Mini Vacation Road Trip
The Falls Hotel & Inn
Back at the room for a quick break and to get out of the heat for a bit. When I am traveling my room never needs to be the most expensive or luxurious. Especially when I know I won't be spending a lot of time in it.
The room is amazingly clean and spacious. The beds are comfy and breakfast is included. (I will review that tomorrow)The hotel has 2 restaurants, a pool, hot tub and sauna. We are pretty much right on Clifton Hill, a 5 minute walk to the Ferris Wheel. At $130 after all taxes and fees it's a great deal.

Destination Ontario Mini Vacation Road Trip
We are at the Falls!!!
This is One of my most favorite Ontario vacation destinations. Dropped the Jeep off at the hotel and did pre-checkin (we arrived well before check in time) I pre-purchased our activities (by the way I can book you a room and have all of your activities arranged if you decided to take a domestic vacation as well).
✅ Movie Land Wax Museum
✅Taking in the amazing view of the Falls
✅ Enjoying a cold bevie (Virgin Pina Colada on the rocks) at the Table Rock Bistro & Wine Bar Patio

We left the restaurant and could not cross the bridge ....for a very good reason. Welland celebrates Father's Day with an awesome parade and small fair.
Absolutely love stumbling on a fun time...and if you want to have a wonderful mini-vacation let me know!

Destination Ontario Mini Vacation Road Trip
The town of Welland and the Welland Canal. We found an amazing little restaurant with a patio on the canal. They only opened on Thursday and we were the first to try the seafood salad on the build your own charcuterie board. If you visit Welland (and remember I can absolutely help you plan that trip) you have to check out the Tempus right on the canal.
