We are excited to be offering the Voyageur Adventure Canoe Tour at Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park again this summer!

Paddle back in time in a replica big canoe to explore the Canadian fur trade on the Mattawa River. This tour is suitable for all ages and discusses colonization and the lasting impacts we still experience today.

This 3-hour tour includes a break at a hidden waterfall, giving you the chance to take photos, have a snack, or go for a swim!

Tours will be offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays over the summer starting Sunday, July 2.

To register for a tour, please come to the Mattawa River Visitor Centre or call the park at 705-744-2276. Tickets must be purchased no later than 4:00pm the night before the scheduled tour.

Voyageur Multi Use Trail System President Yvan Robidas hands over the keys to a 2021 Yamaha Viking Side by Side to the Trails Co-ordination Robert Morrow. The VMUTS committee consists of 10 volunteers who work 12 months of the year planning and maintaining the 300 kilometers of trails on the north side of the Mattawa River. Purchasing a side by side was one of their goals for this year as the Trails Co-ordination has been using his personal vehicle in the past years. VMUTS funding is mainly through the support of OFATV, OFATV Permits, VMUTS trail permits and fundraiser events. While all fundraiser events have been canceled due to Covid a plan is in place to resume this fall. Thanks goes out to Yamaha head office for helping with the purchase.

While the trails are open, no camping is allowed on crown land until the Province opens up on Covid restrictions.
