After a week of being out of my comfort zone by staying in 3* hotels, I was so happy to spend my last night in Rome in the comfort of my 5* Marriott preferred hotel. The difference, for me, are the small things like Kleenex in the room, bottled water, a soft, comfy mattress, the luxury of quality sheets and pillows, and as much as I appreciated my roommate during the week, a room to myself made it the perfect last night.

The Rome Airport has luxury brand name boutiques lined up one beside the other. It’s a beautiful airport but the word polite, respectful, welcoming are not words the Romans have been educated in. I will return to Italy one day BUT I will never step foot in Rome again. Give me the tranquility of the countryside any day over the obnoxious of the city.

This is an 11 km / 6 hr hike with no way to turn back and only 1 place to get a refill of water.
I am the eldest of the group and my priority goal is not to hold up the group and to feel victorious of accomplishing this challenge.

My son Malcolm found a kitten abandoned. Of course he knew I’m a push over when it comes to abandoned animals. I now have 3 cats: Marley, Phoenix and our new addition Ebony. I love her, she’s an adorable MONSTER.
