After a week of being out of my comfort zone by staying in 3* hotels, I was so happy to spend my last night in Rome in the comfort of my 5* Marriott preferred hotel. The difference, for me, are the small things like Kleenex in the room, bottled water, a soft, comfy mattress, the luxury of quality sheets and pillows, and as much as I appreciated my roommate during the week, a room to myself made it the perfect last night.

The Rome Airport has luxury brand name boutiques lined up one beside the other. It’s a beautiful airport but the word polite, respectful, welcoming are not words the Romans have been educated in. I will return to Italy one day BUT I will never step foot in Rome again. Give me the tranquility of the countryside any day over the obnoxious of the city.

Transformation Through Travel

I once lived in a Gilded Cage. It was a subtle prison. The door was left open, I obediently stayed. Soon I felt myself withering in the life built on him, his dreams, his religion, his rules, his career, his needs, his emotions, his insecurities... My wings were weakening. I knew instinctively, I had lost myself. I finally took that leap of faith, I spread my wings. He didn't want me to fly let alone soar. He had always managed to keep me caged, he wouldn't make it easy. I found myself through travel, I left with my courage and intuitively followed my inner voice. It hasn't been easy but every day when I look back at that pretty little cage, I KNOW I am exactly where I am meant to be... Spreading my wings and living my truth.
