It’s no secret that our family loves the Skyliner! It feels like a ride in and of itself and makes getting to the theme parks (or other resorts) so fun and exciting. Today, Disney’s Skyliner turns FIVE!! In honour of its special day, here are some things to know about the Skyliner and my tips and tricks if you’re taking the Skyliner with kids and strollers!
✨ There are 5 gondola stations - they are located at Disney’s Pop Century Resort/ Art of Animation Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort, and Riviera Resort as well as Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot
✨ Each gondola can sit up to 10 guests (less if there’s a scooter/wheelchair/stroller). Depending on how busy it is, you may have to ride with other people outside your party.
✨ Guests using wheelchairs or scooters will be directed to a separate loading area where they board a stationary gondola car.
✨ It typically starts running about an hour before Early Entry! Be sure to check the times as it can vary.
✨ If the Skyliner is down for whatever reason (usually due to inclement weather) Disney will arrange for bus transportation to get from the Skyliner resorts to the theme parks and back!
✨ Prone to motion sickness (like me)? Choose a seat that faces FORWARD!
✨DOUBLE SIDE BY SIDE strollers must be folded prior to getting on. Single or double tandem strollers can remain open and be pushed right on!
✨Pack a medium to large size tote bag. Trust me, this will come in handy! At the end of a park day when your kids have accumulated a ton of souvenirs and other items that are loose in your stroller basket or hanging on your stroller (like stroller fans!!!), you wouldn’t want to be trying to shove it all in your park/diaper bag (that’s probably full enough). Instead, prior to collapsing your stroller, throw all the loose items hanging on your stroller or inside the stroller back in the tote bag then fold that stroller up!

One thing I ALWAYS recommend (especially in the summer months) is a solid dining reservation. It forces you to sit, rest, and get some good food in your system. Also, hello air conditioner.
On our last trip, we dined at Round Up Rodeo BBQ and let me just tell you: IT. DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT. The food was so good and the entire experience was so entertaining. Make sure you come hungry 🤤

This resort is a short boat ride away from Disney’s Springs and you don’t need to be staying at this resort to visit! A perfect ‘rest day’ activity if I do say so myself!

One of the biggest perks is that guests staying at Disney Resorts can enter the parks 30 minutes before non-resort guests. It may not seem like a lot but you can usually hit up several attractions (or 1-2 heavy hitter rides) within that time frame with minimal wait!
✨ BRING (OR RENT) A STROLLER AND A BABY CARRIER
Even if your child isn’t a stroller rider at home, you will NEED one at Walt Disney World. There is so much ground to cover and you’ll easily take thousands of steps in one day. That’s a lot for little legs!! A baby carrier also comes in handy while waiting in line
✨INVEST IN GENIE + 🧞♂️
Genie+ is a paid service that allows you bypass the regular standby lines. It’s the difference between waiting in line for 60-120 minutes vs 10-20 minutes.
✨ MAKE SURE YOU KNOW HOW TO UTILIZE RIDER SWITCH
If travelling with little ones, there will be rides that they may not be tall enough to go on (or maybe they just don’t want to go on it). Rider switch allows part of your group to go on the ride while someone (usually another adult) stays back with the child who isn’t riding. Once the first group is done, it allows the person who stayed back (and one other person) to ride the ride without waiting in line again!!
