------TOURS WILL RESUME JUNE 2025-------
It is this time of the year again, when we have to call it a season. We would like to say a huge Thank You to all our awesome customers and to all the amazing critters in our waters, from the biggest whale down to the tiniest glowing comb jellyfish. You all made another great season possible! We are already looking forward to meeting you again starting June 2025!
Also, if you have been out with us, it would be great if you would leave us a review on Tripadvisor.ca: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g3440508...
As you know, we are a small company, so every little something helps. 🙂
If you would like to follow our whale sniffer dog Arwen's off season adventures, you can do so here: Arwen, the Wunder-Sheltie
This year we finally got the confirmation that she indeed picks up and alerts on the smell of whale breath. One time the breath came towards us and she had noticed it about 2 seconds before we would smell it! Mission accomplished.

OUR LAST DAY OF THE SEASON IS TOMORROW, Sunday Sept. 1st!
Last chance!
Today we had a great day with 2 Ocean Sunfish (Mola mola), Puffins feeding their chicks, jumping Bluefin Tuna and a Father chick pair of both Razorbill (in photo and video) and Common Murre. Both Razorbills and Common Murres provide a bit more parental care on the water than puffins: When the chick leaves, the mother leaves, but the father stays with the chick for about two weeks. We don't see these pairs often, as they move away from the island during their first night usually, so these were special sightings today! 😍

Wow, what a day: A group of COMMON DOLPHINS came to play right around our boat while chasing bill fish of Bauline South, this was our first time ever seeing Common Dolphins on a tour! We also saw 2 Ocean Sunfish (Mola mola) and there still are Puffins out there feeding their chicks!
The count down is on, 2 more days for us to be open, we are closing up for the season on Labour Day! This is your last chance to meet our wonderful Ocean Critters!

LAST CHANCE for a puffling release trip with us this season: Sunday September 1st, 10am
Did you know that many puffin babies are attracted to human-made light pollution on land during fledgling season and need to be rescued?
And YOU can be part of this: Experience rescued pufflings being released right off our tour boat.
Very limited spaces are available for Sept. 1st 2024, 10am, first come first serve.
Call (709)334-2621 to book your spots or email [email protected]

Rates for pufflings release trips:
$77 adults, $70 seniors, $67 under 16

Please note that the puffling release will be dependent on weather and on how many birds were caught the night before. The number of birds to be released also determines if and how much time there will be left to visit the puffins' breeding island and/or look for whales.

We also still see beautiful adult Puffins on all of our regular tours, this is your last chance, Labour Day Sept 2nd will be our very last day for tours this season!

And we all need to do better turning off lights facing the Witless Bay Reserve Islands during the night from August through October, so that no puffin chicks get lured the wrong way in the first place. Because we cannot find and rescue all, many still die, unseen.

A great day with the release of one rescued baby puffin, rescued by awesome members of Puffin & Petrel Patrol NL, and then we also spotted an interesting creature lifting an eye out of the water to look at us, just after we had visited hundreds of puffins still active at Great Island. Can you guess whose eye that is? We will tell you tomorrow. :-)

More Ocean Sunfish (Mola mola) and there still are hundreds of Puffins out here, ever working so hard to get fish for their chicks. And many Ruddy Turnstones are feeding on the islands right not, a stop-over while migrating South.

Ocean Sunfish are so strange and so awesome to watch. Watch how this one lifted his eye out of the water to look at us in the beginning of the video.

Another close encounter with an alien-looking creature: a huge and curious Ocean Sunfish just approached us.
