Discovering communities across our region has been guiding me in identifying signs of resilience. Today I visited a trail in Salisbury I’ve been wanting to explore for a while now and it did not disappoint.

The trail meanders along the Petitcodiac River headwaters (PETIGOTIAG) that flow through the community. This majestic river is part of the Petitcodiac River Watershed featuring valleys, roling hills and farmland with ridges supporting trees and places for animal homes.

Seeing growth from housing pressure is bound to happen in our communities although keeping the riparian zone intact made me happy as I ventured off to enjoy nature. The Vision Salisbury has made is being showcased in the wild community and for that I am grateful.

Get out and explore what is close by in our neighbouring communities. I’ll be biking this one in the summer as I make my way to the Pollett River in Elgin for a dip. Who wants to join me ????

Fantastic “Girls in Science Day” today sharing my love and passion for trees, plants, edibles and more.

They enjoyed the hands on fur talk along with a lesson in the one room school house (Tankville School). They read stories from Dick and Jane even tempted a math lesson, which was amazing.

Out on the trail they walked the Buctouche rail line experienced where water needed to be collected daily from a spring, seen where the reservoir used to be and is now grown in with trees.

They loved the taste testing of wild jellies, teas, juices and my very own Bee Healthy Honey.

The friendship circles were my favorite as they shared stories both at the beginning of the day and the end. This activity brought the girls closer together in ways that they could not have imagined- and guess what they connected more to nature and the outdoors too - YEH!’ Nature is Healthy”.

Great day had by all - Thanks to Cathi Poplar (experiential teacher) for reaching out. Amazing Day.

Another outdoor science lesson this morning with Grade 7’s showcasing animal activity from the latest snowfall, various species of hardwoods and softwoods. Students met our Provincial bird the black capped chickadee up close and personal along with others who followed us along the trails.

Another great science class out in nature today. Hands-on learning at its best with fun facts highlighting various tree species, wildlife activity and cool lessons Mother Nature teaches us daily if we pay attention !!

All part of complimenting what is taught in the classroom while I share my knowledge and expertise on everything Wild - Outside where the action is.

Different every day with every class- simply love it.
My grandmother Della Graham teacher extraordinaire from Sussex Corner many years ago would be so proud, her legacy of wild teaching continues.
