Established in 2004, the Canada-Algeria Business Alliance (CABA) is a not-for-profit club that brings together Canadian companies most active in the Algerian market, be they investors, engineering consultants and construction service providers, suppliers of various goods and services, or importers of Algerian goods and services. One aspect that Algeria and Canada have in common is their use of the
French language, which facilitates dialogue between the two countries and makes it possible to offer Canadian and North American technology in French to the Algerian market. Moreover, Algeria and Canada are both major oil and gas producers with immense land mass that, despite vastly differing climates, offer similar challenges. Algeria and Canada are ideal partners for each other. Supported by the governments of both countries, as represented by the Algerian embassy in Canada and the Canadian embassy in Algeria, CABA's aim is to connect companies interested in expanding and strengthening economic and business ties between the two countries. In February 2011, CABA elected a new Board of Directors, whose members represent the drivers of the Canadian industry. The new Board plans to build on the achievements of its predecessors, particularly those of its outgoing Chair, Mr. Bruno Picard, in carrying out its mission and its objectives. Algeria is experiencing sustained growth and is financially very sound. The country plans to invest over $285 billion in its infrastructure over the next five years, and it plans to achieve this by drawing as much as possible on its own economic players, with whom CABA intends to develop a privileged relationship. Canada is considered a true friend in Algeria, with a reputation for excellence. It is up to us to make the most of the inherent commercial benefits.
