Power outages in Varadero and Holguin
Customers travelling to or from Varadero or Holguin are advised that intermittent power outages have been reported in various parts of these destinations. Our Sales Centre is currently experiencing a high volume of calls, and we ask that you process your customers’ bookings as per the options below.
For Sunwing customers with upcoming travel to Varadero or Holguin on or before October 22, 2024, the following options are available if travelling on board Sunwing Airlines:
1. Travel as originally planned
You may choose to travel as originally scheduled, provided that Sunwing flights are operating. Please note that if your customers decide to travel, Sunwing will not provide any refunds or compensation if their vacation is interrupted by the current outage.
2. Change departure date
Customers can change their departure date to travel on or before Friday, October 25. If the new date involves a higher price, the difference will apply. No cash refunds will be offered if the cost is lower; instead, customers will receive a travel voucher for the price difference, valid for one year (non-refundable and non-transferable).
3. Change destination
Customers may change their destination to another Sunwing destination with Sunwing Airlines as the carrier, scheduled to depart on or before Friday, October 25. If the new destination involves a higher price, that difference will apply. No cash refunds will be provided if the price is lower; customers will receive a travel voucher for the price difference (valid for one year, non-refundable and non-transferable). Changes made for departure dates after Friday, October 25 will incur standard fees and system rates.
4. Cancel for a full refund
Customers have the option to cancel and receive a full refund in the form of a travel voucher, valid for one year. Travel vouchers are subject to terms and conditions.
For customers travelling throughout the rest of Cuba, flexible change and cancellation policies are in effect for scheduled departures up to and including Monday, October 21, 2024. For customers travelling on another airline, please verify their airline policy directly as it will apply.
All Cuban airports served by Sunwing are currently open and are operating with either power or via generators, and Sunwing Airlines flights are currently operating. However, Sunwing customers are advised to check their flight status for the most up-to-date information on flight times before heading to the airport.
