Our Equine Facilitated Wellness (EFW) mental health programs include individual sessions for children youth and adults, workshops and professional training. Counsellors: Deborah Marshall, MA RCC, Kate Burns MSW, Emily McClure, MA and Sasha Routley, MA. Youth Worker: Kerry Moon BA C*C. Horses have a powerful role in healing and assisting people in feeling alive in their lives. Horses live in the present moment, highly aware of their surroundings, without the ability to ruminate about the past or worry about the future. They fully use all of their senses, including their ability to read the inner state of another. They are social and respond warmly to humans who are in touch with their emotions. Their attentiveness to the present state of a human has the capacity to heal old wounds through the bond of connection in the here and now. Not creatures of the cognitive, horses have the gift of intervening on an emotional and somatic (body) level. In our work we help people to regain their ability to experience these attributes that come so easily to horses. People then heal naturally. With guidance from a facilitator and a horse, in the natural environment, people can update old traumas and reconnect with the memory of how to function well and think clearly. Equine Facilitated Wellness can be applied in:

personal development
mental health approaches for children, youth, adults and families
addictions treatment
group settings
leadership

This scene will soon be very different. The 75 acre forest next to us that has been home to so many creatures is being logged. It's a very diverse forest and a pathway for many animals. Very sad over here 😔

Poppy and I are doing a project. When we go forest riding we are putting ponies out on the trails. There are quite a few now! It's a very magical land...
(Also this kid is the best)

So trail riding...some days it's more eventful than others. This one included me hurting myself by making poor life choices and ripping my breeches, Henry getting stuck on a fallen branch, me and Willie trying to walk the edge of the pond and experiencing a very sudden drop off so he leapt back out, me losing my phone, getting semi stuck in an area and a nice neighbour letting us go down her driveway to get to the road, deciding road riding back was going to take a long time so riding through a field to get back into the forest but the edge of the field was a ditch with water that the horses didn't want to go through, me getting very wet walking through said ditch, and then finally getting back on the trail and riding home. These horses are the best ❤️

When we realize we actually have a fully formed trail in the forest next to our place! This ride was another one that ended in poor life choices, Henry telling us we are done thank you very much, and much laughter.

Ok so like every single day I'm so proud of my students and have so much fun with them and their learning. They enrich my life so much ❤️
Yesterday Jaclyn had an amazing lesson. She is transitioning to a dressage saddle and has taken to that easier than I've ever seen anyone do before! She is making so many connections and her riding is improving so much every lesson. I'm so excited for her!

It's just so fun watching these two working on bridleless. Outside the ring is coming along too!

Caitlin has been working on bridleless with Henry. First time jumping bridleless! They're having so much fun together.

So we hose the horses at the trailer. I hold them while Caitlin puts tack away. And this is the result 😑😂 Henry really really wanted to use Willie as a scratching post.

My 11 year old son teaching himself to ride 😍 He is a unique kid and I am not traditionally teaching him at this point. Here he is learning to trot his pony bareback. These two get along really well, for two guys who can be hard to get along with 😉😂
