It's not officially the start of the tour season for us until we've made a trip to Port Hardy in partnership with Canada Rail Vacations!
Beautiful night to cap off a day of showing guests around Northern Vancouver Island. Extra special thanks to the young bald eagle for the perfectly timed photo bomb!

Horne Lake Caves and Outdoor Centre provide incredible insight into the caves that many might not know about Vancouver Island.
From their website;
************************************
"Surprisingly, Vancouver Island is the largest island on North America’s west coast. It is approximately 500 km long with a population of about 740,000 people residing all over the island. Visitors and residence alike can enjoy one of the most spetacular features of this beautiful nature spot-caves are abundant here!
With 4% of its surface area being comprised of ”karst” landscapes, the highest concentration of caves in North America is found right here on the Island. We have over 1200 km2 of cave features to explore and more explored limestone caves here than in all other Canadian provinces combined. Vancouver Island is so rich in caves, with more than 1,000 recorded, that it is sometimes referred to as the “Island of Caves“."

Here at VI Expeditions we create an opportunity for you to experience some of these caves yourself, learn more here;

We are proud and feel so grateful after bringing our customers to some of these beautiful outdoor locations and to see the smiles on their faces.
Nanaimo has developed a reputation amongst outdoor enthusiasts as one of the island’s best outdoor playgrounds. From climbing to hiking and diving to kayaking, let this itinerary inspire your next adventure.

"I loved going to Elk Falls just outside of Campbell River on Vancouver Island, BC. It's about a kilometre in, and you come to a beautiful newly built spot with this suspension bridge. A must stop, if your up in that region and possibly heading to Strathcona Park." -@ thehealthyt, Instagram

Roll up your sleeves on September 15 with the team at Blue Grouse Estate Winery for the first grape harvest of the season. Pick grapes, enjoy lunch with a glass of wine, and take home a bottle.
We're very excited to partner with Brackish Adventures to offer an amazing paddle & snorkel during the salmon spawn on Nanaimo River. Not only will there be thousands of salmon to gaze upon, but seals, sea lions and bald eagles are also commonly nearby waiting to feast.
And don't worry about the cold or the rain as wetsuits are available to keep you warm before, during and after your experience. Maybe we'll even find a nice campfire and hot chocolate to warm ourselves up after?
We get all kinds of visitors to the Island! Grizzlies are rare but they do occasionally make their way over.
An employee of a hatchery on northern Vancouver Island snapped a photo of a grizzly bear that appeared as if it had just swum across Johnstone Strait on Sept. 5.
