We’re always busy behind the scenes keeping up and running. We did a few updates last week to a couple of the bedrooms. Here’s a little snippet of a Before and two Afters of one of the bedrooms. I love the charm of this old home and we do our best to keep it while still staying up to date.

Here’s a little flashback: when I was a little girl we would often go to my grandparents in Whiteway for cooked dinner. If Nan needed ice cream and didn’t have it, she’d send her plethora of grandkids to Drover’s and have it “marked down” and this is the type of ice cream we’d come back with.

I’m cleaning up the shed at Marie’s House this morning since the first time we purchased the home 3+ years ago - what a neat little memory.

As we move from our busy Summer season and in to Fall, I’d like to thank all of our guests who we have had the pleasure of hosting these past few months. We’ve had guests from all over the world stay at Marie’s House this year - from Australia, New Zealand, England, Scotland, America and all across Canada. It’s been a real pleasure!

I added a little splash of Fall in to the mix today in addition to the brand new custom-made bench from Pam's Petite Emporium and the beautiful rope basket I purchased from our own vacation this summer from beautiful Leading Tickles.

Each summer since we had our son in 2010 we would take a few days of the summer and travel our beautiful province of Newfoundland. The last three years we haven’t had the opportunity to do this due to extensive renovations of our three rental properties. This is our first summer since 2020 that we’ve made the time to leave the Avalon and boy oh boy, it did not disappoint!

Our son loves all things history and is up for a good adventure of any kind - here’s a couple of snippets of a few things we’ve seen along the way the past few days. Sis is always up for whatever brudder wants to do so she’s a great sport for adventures too!
