Epic Antarctica: A Journey to the End of the Earth and Back 🐧❄️

The past month has been nothing short of extraordinary, and as our adventure comes to an end, I’m filled with gratitude for the incredible experiences we’ve had.

On January 3rd, we explored the Graham Coast region of the Antarctic Peninsula via Zodiac cruising, where we spotted crabeater seals resting on massive icebergs and marveled at the sheer beauty of the icy landscape. A wet landing took us to a snowy hill, where we hiked up to discover a thriving penguin colony. Watching these charming birds waddle around and care for their young was a true highlight. The day was capped off with several sightings of humpback whales, including one that surfaced just outside my balcony—an awe-inspiring moment!

On January 4th, we journeyed to the Yalour Islands and Hidden Bay, two of the most breathtaking locations we visited. At the Yalour Islands, we climbed to the top of a snow hill, surrounded by Adélie penguins and jaw-dropping views of the icy expanse. Hidden Bay lived up to its name with its secluded beauty, offering another challenging hike with a stunning reward—unparalleled views of untouched Antarctica.

January 5th and 6th brought us across the infamous Drake Passage, a true test of endurance for any Antarctic explorer. Despite stormy conditions and swells of up to 5 meters, we braved the crossing with the help of sea-sickness medication and a bit of luck. While the Drake is notorious for its turbulence, we managed to enjoy moments of calm and reflection as we bid farewell to Antarctica.

Before leaving, we passed through Port Lockroy, where we visited the historic British research station, and the iconic Lemaire Channel, with its towering ice cliffs and serene waters—a picture-perfect farewell to this incredible journey.

Yesterday, on January 7th, we flew from Ushuaia to Buenos Aires on our charter flight, marking the official end of our Epic Antarctica: Crossing the Circle via the Falkland Islands and South Georgia expedition. Today, we’re heading back home, carrying with us memories of a lifetime and a newfound appreciation for the untouched beauty of the Antarctic region.

This journey has been truly life-changing, and I’m so thankful to have experienced it alongside such an amazing group of travelers. From the vibrant wildlife to the rugged landscapes and everything in between, Antarctica has left an indelible mark on my heart.

Until the next adventure!

Epic Antarctica: Crossing the Circle via the Falkland Islands and South Georgia 🐧❄️

Our extraordinary expedition continues as we delve deeper into the wonders of the 7th Continent. This journey has been nothing short of incredible, and the past few days have been filled with history, wildlife, and awe-inspiring landscapes.

On Christmas Day, December 25th, we explored Jason Harbour and Grytviken in South Georgia. At Grytviken, we paid homage to Sir Ernest Shackleton with a heartfelt toast at his gravesite—a moving tribute to the legendary explorer. We also visited the post office and museum, where we mailed postcards featuring unique Shackleton stamps, a keepsake of this extraordinary journey. The day concluded with a beautiful Christmas carol service at the church, followed by a festive Christmas dinner onboard.

On December 26th, we visited Cooper Bay and Gold Harbour, two wildlife havens on South Georgia. At Cooper Bay, we encountered thriving colonies of Macaroni penguins and fur seals, while Gold Harbour stunned us with its dramatic scenery and a massive colony of king penguins framed by towering glaciers.

After a day at sea, we arrived at Elephant Island on December 29th, a site deeply tied to Shackleton’s expedition. While the weather prevented us from going ashore, we were brought close to the island’s rugged cliffs, where we reflected on the resilience of Shackleton’s men who survived months here awaiting rescue.

On December 30th, we explored the icy realms of Bone Bay and Charcot Bay, both showcasing Antarctica’s pristine beauty. Towering glaciers, iridescent icebergs, and serene waters created a mesmerizing landscape, with penguins and seals adding to the magic.

New Year’s Eve, December 31st, found us in the Gerlache Strait under a glorious sunny sky. We kicked off the day with an unforgettable helicopter flight, soaring over the stunning Antarctic scenery—a breathtaking way to bid farewell to 2024! Later, we explored Pléneau Island and Palaver Point, where seals lounged on ice floes and penguins waddled across the snowy terrain.

On New Year’s Day, January 1st, we visited Orne Harbour and Damoy Point. Orne Harbour offered dramatic mountain vistas and bustling chinstrap penguin colonies, while Damoy Point provided a glimpse into the history of Antarctic exploration with its historic hut surrounded by spectacular views.

Today, January 2nd, marks a major milestone: we officially crossed the Antarctic Circle at 10:30 AM! This achievement symbolizes the adventurous spirit that has carried us through this epic expedition, and it’s a moment we’ll cherish forever.

Stay tuned as we continue our incredible voyage, discovering more of the wonders that make this journey to Antarctica, the Falkland Islands, and South Georgia truly unforgettable.

🎄 Merry Christmas from the 7th Continent! ❄️🐧

Wishing you all a joyous Christmas from the end of the world—Antarctica, the breathtaking 7th Continent! Our incredible journey continued as we arrived in South Georgia on December 23rd, where we’ve been exploring some of the most stunning and remote places on Earth.

Our first stops included Stromness and Fortuna Bay, located along South Georgia’s rugged north coast. At Stromness, we immersed ourselves in the island’s history, visiting the remnants of the old whaling station and reflecting on the legendary Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, who completed his epic journey here. Fortuna Bay offered us a spectacular introduction to South Georgia’s pristine beauty, with jaw-dropping landscapes, snow-capped peaks, and incredible wildlife. We were surrounded by thousands of king penguins and fur seals, creating unforgettable memories.

Yesterday, we ventured to Royal Bay and St. Andrew’s Bay, two of the most magnificent spots on the island. Royal Bay greeted us with dramatic glaciers and vibrant wildlife, while St. Andrew’s Bay completely stole the show. Imagine standing among over 150,000 king penguins, their striking golden feathers creating a sea of color against the icy backdrop. The sheer scale and serenity of this place left us speechless—it felt like stepping into another world.

Today, as we celebrate Christmas in this remote and extraordinary place, we’re filled with gratitude for the beauty of our planet and the privilege of experiencing such wonders. Stay tuned as we continue our adventure deeper into Antarctica!

🌊 Setting Sail on Epic Antarctica: Falklands, South Georgia & Beyond 🐧

Four days ago, we boarded our charter flight from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia, where we embarked on the magnificent Ultramarine to begin our Epic Antarctica voyage. This incredible journey will take us through the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and the icy wilderness of Antarctica.

The first couple of days at sea were quite the adventure with some rough conditions, but thanks to sea sickness medication, we all powered through! Despite the swells, we were treated to stunning sunsets and some amazing wildlife sightings, including playful dolphins and soaring albatrosses.

Unfortunately, strong gusty winds meant we couldn’t stop at Saunders and West Point Island, but we pressed on to the Falkland Islands, where we made it to Port Stanley yesterday. And wow—what an experience! Our first sightings of adorable penguins, majestic herons, and other incredible wildlife left us in awe.

Now, we’re on our way to South Georgia, where we’ll encounter even more breathtaking landscapes and wildlife. As part of our preparation, we’re undergoing extensive biosecurity checks to ensure we protect the pristine environment we’re about to explore.

Stay tuned as our journey continues toward the heart of Antarctica—it’s only going to get more spectacular from here! 🐧❄️
