Most haunted house in Toronto... a reason why! The Mazkenzie Press

The son of a former caretaker woke at night. A banging from the basement shook the house. Freaked, he ran into the hallway to listen down the stairs.

Noise stopped and it was silent. Later finding out about the original Printing Press (pic), once used in Queenston (Niagara-on-the-Lake) to print Anti-British Newspapers.

Today, Press still sits in the house's basement!

Today we honour Sir Allan MacNab... At only 16 years old, fought at the Battle of York (War of 1812). Went from Ensign to Lieutenant-Colonel by 32 year old.

Diving head-first into the Rebellion of 1837. *He was knighted for leading an attack on Toronto's Montgomery’s Tavern, where the Rebellion was essentially ended. Sending Mackenzie into hiding.

Just before that, he built a home (Hamilton's Dundurn Castle in 1835) & and 20 years later served as Premier of the United Canada's (kind of like Prime Minister).

Former American's settled Ontario! Including Niagara-on-the-Lake...

John Butler, leader of the Butler's Rangers. A feared Militia, called “treacherous,” “barbarous,” and “diabolically wicked and cruel” by many US Historians.

After the War, settling at Fort Niagara and crossing into a new land. In 1782, 16 families (including John) started “Butlersburg”. 10 years later it was renamed Newark by John Graves Simcoe, along with plans for the strategically located land.

Abraham Lincoln dreamed of his own death!

In 1865, he wrote a letter to a friend. Detailing a nightmare... seeing himself walk into the Whitehouse's East Room. Guards lined & a crowd sitting in chairs, all heads lowered. A figure lying on a front table, dead... body draped in fabric.

Later in 1865 ... he was assassinated at Ford's Theater.
