Have you ever thought of a long-term exchange? Sabine & Colin, Nova Scotia, enjoyed 7+ months in the idyllic city of Taucha at Peter & Doreen's.
"We had a seven and a half month exchange with Peter, Doreen and family, and so enjoyed the comfort and coziness of their lovely home. Taucha is small, but has everything you need, and is in close proximity to Leipzig and the airport. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring other parts of Germany, and travels further afield as well, but it was always nice to come ‘home’ to Taucha! In December we visited many beautiful Christmas markets, and as the days started warming in Spring, we enjoyed time on their lovely patio and the garden as well. We made lovely new friends, and fell in love with Charly, their sweet cat. We returned to Canada with a little piece of Germany and Taucha in our hearts! We’d love to do another exchange in the future! Thank you, Peter, Doreen, and boys for the exchange, and for taking such good care of our home as well!"

Re Victoria: "The house is very well situated, easy
access via public transport to Victoria. Beautiful
national parks for hiking. Many outdoors activity
available in the area of Victoria. It was easy to
communicate with Andrew before and during the
exchange. Very successful exchange."

Re Montreal: “Andre and Sylvie had everything ready
on arrival. The home was well situated near a shopping
mall. This meant getting groceries was a simple task.
The subway was a short drive away. The parking was
free at the subway station. This meant getting around
Montreal was fairly easy and straight forward and I was
able to avoid rush hour traffic on the freeways. Access
to the subway made it easier to attend large public
gatherings downtown (e.g. Jazz Fest). Sylvie and
Andre were responsive to questions that I had.
Moreover, they offered suggestions as to what to see
and do in Montreal. This is a very successful exchange.
Very well coordinated including the exchange for the
vehicles.”

Canadian Thanksgiving is a national holiday with celebrations dating back to the 18th century, giving thanks for a successful harvest. At its core, Canadian Thanksgiving is about expressing gratitude for the good things in life. Many Canadians take the opportunity to reflect on their blessings and share what they are thankful for. Festivities include sharing a special meal, enjoying outdoor activities, parades, decorating their homes in autumn theme.

'At the gate was the Canadian flag flying in the breeze. We were surrounded by wheat fields in a lovely valley near the village of Hondouville. Our daily routine was to feed the chickens. Lucie, the cat became our new best friend. Eva loved to pick the plums and she was able to share them with friends and a nearby restaurant in town. With our car exchange,we were able visit nearby towns such as Giverny (the Monet house and gardens), Evereaux, Vernon, Le Bec-Hellouin. Rouen, a beautiful historical city was just to the north. A must see! Further afield, we visited Courseulles Sur Mer and the Junk Beach Museum, and Dieppe. I drove to Charles de Gaulle Airport to pick up Stephane, Isabelle and Gustave. They had an overnight flight from Toronto. We drove back to their home, and then we drove to Rouen, where they treated us to a traditional lunch and a tour of the old city. Thank you. We will remember our conversations. Our visit with them was enriching. We were able to share our experiences. Thank you for your hospitality and friendship. And thank you for your invitation to home sit for you in 2024. We shall return to Hondouville!'
