These two are true hero’s of the Indian Arm. On January 18th @ approximately 12:20 pm these two siblings .ray and their crew were travelling past my dock in their boat when they all of a sudden did a sharp turn with throttle down. I looked to the southern direction they were heading to see a 50’ Grenfell boat fully engulfed in smoke. My brother and I quickly jumped in his boat and headed to the scene where we saw Penny, Tim and crew holding onto the smoking vessel while the occupants boarded their boat to safety. 5 min later the Grenfell was fully engulfed in flames. For 3 hrs we all watched the beauty burn then sink to the ocean floor. Luckily there were no human casualties because of this crews quick actions It’s always nice to know people are always looking out for you on the lonely seas.

Yesterday started off with a pretty chill day up the Arm getting the water lines winterized. Within an hr of getting to work my brother and I Ryan Griffer had to jump into his boat and head out to a 40’ Grenfell that was fully engulfed in smoke. When we got to the vessel there was another boat tied up to it getting to passengers off the boat. I was on the phone with coast guard while Ryan warned the rescue boat to hurry up and un tie before the boat could possibly explode. Luckily everyone got off safely and away from the boat. Unfortunately we all watched for 3 hrs while this beauty burned and sunk to the bottom of the ocean. It was great to see CoastGuardCanada Western Region Canadian Coast Guard within 25 minutes but unfortunately no fire boat was dispatched. We had to head back to our dock and get our fire pump ready just in case this vessel on fire floated into our dock causing more damage. No casualties except the Grenfell.
