A couple of days ago we had a tour of Florence to see the statue of David.
This is one of the oldest cities in Italy. The architecture in these cities is amazing and so much history. Honestly Florence was so crowded, I can't imagine what it is like in July and August.
The statue is absolutely huge and is so well done. The detail is incredible.
We ended the day with a cooking class. We learnt how to make so many things. It was so much fun.

Today we worked out way to Tuscany, stopping along the way in Parma, visiting the cheese factory then the balsamic vinegar manufacturer.
I can honestly say I have never seen so many cheese wheels. Good Parmasean cheese does not come in a shaker container. Just saying.
Did you know that good balsamic vinegar takes 25 years before it is at it's peak. The vinegar will change between 5 different barrels before it is processed.

Yesterday we spent the day with a Bolognese master quilter, Silvia Muzzarelli and her friend, who translated for us.
This was a real free form of stitching, very creative.
Slivia's quilts were absolutely beautiful.

After we arrived in Bolgnia we had an awesome.tour of the historical part of the city.
The architecture is amazing with the old timbers, and the different towers throughout the city centre.
The picture of the 2 towers, one is leaning so bad they are in the process of tearing it down.
All the main streets have these huge portico, this is great idea. It keeps the sun and rain off you.
Bolgnia has the first university!
It was a great tour but my feet were killing at the end of the tour.

Our last day in Venice we visited the islands of Murano and Burano. We started off at the oldest glass-blowing factory, where we had a chance to see the glass masters demonstrate their skills.
After lunch we left this island and went to Burano home of lace making. After having some free time for lunch, shopping, and discovering aĺl the colourful houses, we took a lace making class at Atelierof Martina Vitel, where we found out exactly how this fine art is done.
It blows me away to think a doily could take up to two months.
My group soon discovered this is not a craft for us.

Today we packed a lot of things into one day. We started the day with a walking tour of Vemice, discovering narrow little streets with great architecture ending with beautiful views on the Grand Canal. This is like the 401 of Venice, boats hauling cargo in every direction, taxi ferries and water busses shuttling people everywhere.
Then it was off to Doge's Palace, built for the Dukes of Venice. This Palace is room after room with gold. It is truly unbelievable how much gold can be in one place. This also is where the judges held court and if you were found guilty, you made the journey through narrow passage ways and over the Bridge of Sighs then on to your dark cell.
St Mark's CathedrL, which I have toured before, UT it just blows me away how much gold could be in church, just like the Palace.
Later we went for a gondola ride, it is so relaxing sitting on the boat letting someone else do all the.
No he wouldn't sing for us

We finished off the afternoon making masks for carnival.
Another great day with some fabulous women.

Just like that we leave Toronoto as the sun is setting after a 5 hour delay. The sun is up as we are landing in Shannon Ireland. Wait I thought we were going to Paris for our connecting flight. Someone had a medical emergency so we had to make an unscheduled stop. Then an hour later we were off to Paris.
Finally we land in in Venice. I love Venice! This is such a unique place to land. You walk through the terminal and go to the pier, catch the water taxi to your hotel. You have to come before the crowds in the main tourist season.
The ladies are so excited!!
Today we are off on a walking tour with our guide.
This is the best part of job, seeing the excited and happy group!

Just like that we off to Italy! The sun sets leaving Toronto after a 5 hour delay and the sun is up when we are landing in Shannon Ireland, but I thought our connection was in Paris. Someone had a medical emergency so we had to make an unscheduled stop.
Then an hour later we leave and off to Paris, then we land in Venice.
I love this city and if you come before the main tourist season it is even better.
The experience of landing in Venice and taking the water taxi to your hotel is like no where else in the world. The ladies are so excited.
I can't wait for our tour guide show the ladies Venice today.
I love this part of my job!

After two days in Hamilton exploring all the Missouri Star Quilt shops we enjoyed a night of pizza. This was followed by a show and share of a small portion of what was purchased in the last few days.
This trip has reminded me of why I love my job.

Day 2 of Missouri Star Quilt! Thank goodness the sun cam out by the time we arrived.
The first stop today was at the Missouri Quilt Museum. If you have never been here and you plan on coming make sure to go to the museum.
It is the largest collection of antique sewing machines and toy sewing machines you will ever see. Plus the collection of quilts are unbelievable. Everything from antique quilts to new quilts, Absolutely fabulous.
Now the rest of the day to shop!

We are back in Hamilton at Missouri Star Quilt Company!
We started off with a trunk show by Edie McGinnis, author for Kanas City Star Quilt Books. She wrote 18 quilt books, and what a great lady. Her collection of quilts is fabulous.
The rest of the day was shopping, and boy did the ladies shop!
It was a wonderful day.

Meet my driver for this Missouri Star Quilt Tour, Val.
She not only is a great driver, but she is a quilter!!
Val owns 17 sewing machines including 2 sergers!
She owns everything from Feather weights, antiques to an embroidery machine. She gets us! I sure lucked out with her.

Today was an awesome day with the group of ladies from the Ottawa area and Quebec City area.
We arrived in Hannibal for lunch and to visit the fabulous Hickory Stick Quilt Shop.
Everybody got to meet Tom Sawyer and Becky Thatcher.
Pat that owns Hickory Stick Quilt Shop is fabulous, such a lovely lady. If you are ever near Hannibal Mo stop by and check out her store.

I am so excited to get back on the road! The first tour for 2024, is to Missouri Star, with a full coach from the Ottawa area leaving from the Quilter's Barn & Gifts.
I have made new bingo cards for everyone to play bingo on the coach and win some prizes!

I have just finished putting together a new quilt tour heading to Lancaster County, September 20-27, 2025!
We will be visiting many quilt shops, as well as Hershey PA along the way.
While in Lancaster I have arranged a 1 day Amish Artisan tour of the local area as well having lunch in an Amish home by Hannah King.

One of the places we will be visiting on the Enchanted Quilt Tour to Italy is a glass blowing factory. The artisans are so talented and amazing to watch.

In Tuscany we will be staying at an authentic 400-year-old Villa Casagrande, just one of the beautiful hotels we will be staying at during the Enchanted Italy Quilt Tour, May 21-June 2, 2024.
The Casagrande is at the Figline Valdarno Village, located 20 minutes outside the city of Florence, you will be impressed with the largest builing with its own olive and fruit orchards, vineyard and Kitchen gardens.

The Missouri Star Birthday Bash Quilt Tour for 2024 is ready to book!

It is time to sign up for the Paducah Quilt Show 2024!
I put together a fabulous tour not only to the Paducah but we will also be going to Memphis TN!
We will be in Paducah for 4 days. One day we will do a shop hop and visit the National Quilt Museum. The other 3 days will be spent at the Paducah Quilt Show and you will have free time to take in the all the other shops in Paducah. One afternoon we will be visiting Patti's Settlement where you will have time to shop before we enjoy dinner here.
In Memphis we will be having a tour of Graceland, a tour of Memphis with Back Beat Tours and dinner at B.B. King's Blues Club where we will be entertained.
This is going to be a fun rock N roll tour to Paducah & Memphis.
