It's Fall!

Things are changing all around us. It's easy to see when you look out your window. The colours, the sky, the wind, and of course the temperatures are all fluctuating more than they were even a few short weeks ago.

Things are changing inside of our homes as well. Canning and fall baking are in full swing. Homework is following our kids home from school and music lessons are starting up. And as we switch our thermostats from a/c to heat our relative humidity begins to drop.

The many wooden components of our pianos start to fluctuate with the change. As the excess moisture from the humidity of summer begins to dissipate, the pitch tends to drop in the piano. This leads to a less satisfying experience for those who are practicing and for those who are listening. This is why fall and spring are excellent times for a piano to get a tuning.
