⚠️2024 UPDATE *PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS 2024*

Starting May 21, IRCC will invite 35,700 potential sponsors from the 2020 pool of remaining interest to sponsor forms submitted in 2020 to sponsor parents and grandparents. IRCC will send out invitations over the course of approximately 2 weeks. If you submitted an interest to sponsor form in 2020, please check the email address you used at that time. As of today, January 22, 2024, New Study Permit Applicants will have a cap limit that is expected to result in approximately 360,000 approved study permits, a decrease of 35% from 2023. Study permit ‘renewals’ will not be impacted. Those pursuing Master’s and Doctoral degrees, and elementary and secondary education are NOT included in the cap. Current study permit holders will NOT be affected.

Starting today, invitations to apply will be sent to potential sponsors who have previously filled out an Interest to Sponsor form: ow.ly/2NLo50PV9Bi

➡️ Invitations will be sent by email over the following 2 weeks to randomly selected potential sponsors from the remaining pool of 2020 Interest to Sponsor forms.

➡️ If you receive an invitation, you must electronically submit your PGP application through the Permanent Residence Portal or the Representative Permanent Residence Portal by the deadline mentioned on your invitation: ow.ly/yeTs50PV7EG

➡️ If you submitted an Interest to Sponsor form in 2020, but did not receive an invitation to apply during the 2020, 2021 or 2022 intakes, make sure to monitor the email account you used on that form, including your spam and junk mail folders.

➡️ Once all invitations have been sent out, you’ll be able to recover a lost confirmation number or provide a new email address if you no longer have access to the email address you used to submit your Interest to Sponsor form: ow.ly/1eiu50PV7Hh

“As of July 16, 2023, H-1B specialty occupation visa holders in the US, and their accompanying immediate family members, will be eligible to apply to come to Canada.
