Operating a boat while impaired by drugs or alcohol is a criminal offence in Canada. A Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) exceeding 80mg or 0.08% constitutes impairment, determined by breathalyzer or blood test.

Convictions result in:
1st offence: minimum $600 fine;
2nd offence: minimum $600 fine and 14 days imprisonment;
3rd/subsequent offence: minimum $600 fine and 90 days imprisonment.

Impaired operation causing damage to a rental voids damage deposit limits, making you liable for all recovery and repair costs.

We're patiently waiting for the ice to melt and the water levels to rise so we can get them back on the docks for the new season.

DO YOU REQUIRE A BOATER'S LICENSE TO RENT A HOUSEBOAT?
This is our most frequently asked question when at a trade show

The answer:
No. In Ontario, it is not required to have a Pleasure Craft Operator License, per Transport Canada.

What Is Required To Rent From Egan:
We highly encourage our guests to obtain the PCOC but it is not required to rent with us at this time. However, you must:
☑️be at least 21 years of age,
☑️hold a valid driver’s license,
☑️complete our orientation training,
☑️provide a signed waiver,
☑️a signed copy of the Transport Canada Rental Boat Safety Checklist which is valid only for the duration of your rental agreement period to serve as Proof of Competency.
