Just a little snippet of our time on Maui from beaches, the Road to Hana and snorkeling the Molokini Crater. All that’s missing in here is more of the delicious food, friendly people and my Scuba adventure. I need to get back to do some hiking and see the Haleakala Crater!

I have to share this amazing video I got at Malo Pier in Maui, Hawaii. It is a turtle "cleaning station" where turtles sit and the smaller fish come and eat the algae or any mites that might be on the turtle to help keep it healthy. I've never seen it on this scale and I think at one point there were 4 or 5 turtles sitting there. If you listen closely you might hear some humpback whales singing too 😍🐢🐋

Wednesday June 5, 2024 after our night of 10m swells 🤢 we arrived in Akureyri. It is considered the Capitol of the North with about 20,000 people. It was cold and snowy and the locals were saying they had net seen snow like this in June in over 20 years.
They have hearts as their stop lights that were put in after the 2008 financial crisis and decided to just keep them.
Due to all the snow a lot of mountain roads were closed and so our planned excursion to Myvatan baths was cancelled. Instead we went to Laufás to visit some turf houses of what would have been traditional homes in 1866 (which was when this was built).
After the turf farm, we headed to Godafoss waterfalls (waterfall of the gods). Such a beautiful place!

We are in a sheltered fjord today as our original spot is too choppy still with this North Atlantic storm we’ve been sailing through. This is a quiet beautiful town.

Day 4 we arrived in Patreksfjordur and went on a 7km hike (10km is including the walk through town to get to the trail head). It was a strenuous but beautiful hike up to a lake at the top. It was sunny and cool and we even found some mosquitos. This town has about 700 inhabitants and fishing and tourism are the biggest industry for them.

Hahaha it’s so windy you can’t even hear me! So what I’m saying is we are in Holmavik for a hike this morning. We hiked up a ridge and you could see the sheep farm down by the ocean. Good hike, easier than yesterday through basically sheep pasture. There is a storm coming in so we quickly went back to the ship after this hike and we will be dealing with 7-8m swells as we head to our next port. Gonna be a bumpy night!
