Kayaking in Croker Bay in Lancaster Sound in front of the Devon Ice Cap. John Blythe, our Expedition Leader handing out paddles. Hot chocolate delivered by polar bears and the specs in the water are seals! Four different species were spotted along with three polar bears on shore. No shore visit for us today!

Must have good enough fitness to walk over unstable ground and around Virginia Falls & must have previous camping experience, no major medical issues and must know how to swim. No previous paddling experience is needed.

NWT Tourism has three scholarships available this year for a full-time NWT student!

NWT Tourism will be awarding two scholarships, each valued at $2,500 to a student enrolled in a tourism and hospitality program or pursuing studies to become a pilot or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. We will also be awarding the Rio Tinto Indigenous Student Scholarship, valued at $2,000.

Long-time local potter Al Pace has been creating his earthy and wilderness-inspired, functional stoneware since the 1970s and there’s always something new to find in his expansive Hockley Valley studio, Farmhouse Pottery, Gallery and Cafe.

On our wish-list to spruce up a holiday table? Plates adorned with soft blue swirls – the result of multiple layers of a cobalt glaze on high-fired stoneware. The rich browns of another series are courtesy of an iron-saturated tenmoku glaze.
