Yesterday evening was the first digital photo competition at the Camera Club of Ottawa. The competition topic was "shadows", where shadows are the most important aspect of the photo. The Color topic was Open. I am happy to report that my 2 Shadow photos won Awards of Excellence, while my 2 lighthouse photos won Honourable Mentions.

This is more abstract than my usual style, but I quite like it. Shot at Jordan Pond, in Acadia National Park, while on a workshop with my good friend Reed Hoffmann Photography. I like the way the gentle waves blend the colour layers.

Halloween is coming in a few days. Here is an interesting twist on the them, which I saw Saturday at a car show..... Some people have too much time...... Even the brake pads on the Lamborghini were orange!

Here is an unusual view of sunset, shot yesterday in Acadia National Park. The vehicle shape lent itself to a bit of abstract art with the reflection of sunset. Thanks to my friend Dara Russell for spotting this.

The Newfoundland workshop with Reed Hoffmann is starting on June 18 2025 in St John’s, and ends on June 26 in Deer Lake. We will spend time in St John’s, Trinity, Iceberg Alley, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Gros Morne National Park, and much more. We will shoot amazing landscapes, as well as icebergs, puffins and whales. Another fav photo of mine, the first one to win an award actually. This is the Cape Neddick Lighthouse in Maine, during the golden hour. With thanks to my good friend who pointed out the reflection in the pond, which I had missed.
