CANADIAN WILDLIFE MUSEUM - VERNON, BC

🐻 The Canadian Wildlife Museum is located, just minutes north of Vernon B.C. 🦌

Master Taxidermist Ken Schultz worked on this project for twenty eight years. Some of the scenes in the Museum took as much as six months full time labor to create and complete, for just one scene alone. 🐐 Most of the larger mammal scenes took from one to two months labor to complete. The amazing artwork is not just in the mounted animals but also in the natural, detailed bases that the scenes are situated on. 🦅

The setting is a rustic cedar wood atmosphere with natural bird and nature environmental background sounds. There are over 350 mounted specimens including over 120 Canadian birds of prey and over 115 different species of Canadian wildlife including most of the species of Canadian animals. There is also a Gift Shop which is well stocked with many very unique wildlife and nature related novelties, souvenirs, jewelry and gifts. This is definitely a family and friend tourist attraction worth checking out.

THE OKANAGAN RAIL TRAIL 🚵

The CN Rail line was constructed in 1925 🚊 to bring the produce and lumber of the Okanagan Valley to markets across the country. Operated by Kelowna Pacific Railway the line served the communities of Campbell Creek, Kamloops, Vernon, Coldstream, Lake Country, Okanagan Indian Band and Kelowna.

Challenged with high costs and low revenues, Kelowna Pacific Railway ceased rail service in July 2013. In September 2013 CN Rail began the formal process of discontinuing the rail line running from Lumby Junction in Coldstream to Kelowna. With financial support from the provincial government, local and municipal governments stepped forward to purchase the discontinued CN rail corridor. In doing so, they created an unparalleled opportunity to establish a legacy for local communities.

🐺 BC WILDLIFE PARK - KAMLOOPS, BC 🦝

The BC Wildlife Park is a non-profit organization and registered charity located in Kamloops, British Columbia since 1965. The BC Wildlife Park is home to nearly 200 animals and 65 different species that are native to British Columbia including 🐆 cougars, 🐻 bears, 🐕 wolves, 🐍 reptiles, 🦉 birds of prey, and the only 🐨 Kermode bear in human care in the world.

Many of the animals at the Park have been rescued or were orphaned and are unable to survive on their own in the wild. The BC Wildlife Park is an accredited facility in Canada, by Canada's Accredited Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA).

In partnership with the Burrowing Owl Conservation Society, The BC Wildlife Park has been working towards saving the burrowing owls from extirpation since 1992. Together we are proud to be the largest and most successful breeders in the world.

The BC Wildlife Park also operates the Fawcett Family Wildlife Health Centre which is dedicated to the rehabilitation of orphaned and injured wildlife. As the only full service wildlife rehabilitation centre in the Southern Interior, our health centre accepts over 600 animals annually from all over British Columbia.
