The mission of Silver Lake Camp is to provide an opportunity to experience outdoor education and exploration in an environment designed to encourage meaningful and collaborative learning. An opportunity for all ages to reconnect to nature, themselves and others. Silver Lake Forestry Center had been in operation for over 40 years and is known for offering quality forest education programs and outdo

or camping experiences to young people between the ages of 7 and 16 years. The Camp includes a brand new lodge with full kitchen, 10 cabins that each sleep 8-10 people, 6 no-fee camping areas and a beautiful lake that is fully stocked with rainbow trout. In order to continue running this education camp that has changed the lives of over 10,000 children in the past 4 years we are asking for the community to come together to show their support by becoming a member or sponsor of Silver Lake Camp! What does Truth & Reconcilliation mean to you? To others?

Not sure what it's all about or how to start? Take some time to read the UN Declaration that Canada signed into law in 2007 (it takes government a long time to get anywhere folks) I am going to read it while spending time on the land today.

Let me introduce you to Sunflower (Waterfront Director) and two amazing lifegaurd/cabin leaders, Otter and Marmot, who came to use with amazing experience from (Hope your back in business soon, but we will be trying to keep these two) Our amazing NLS crew doing extra sims to ensure they can provide the highest level of care. Way to go waterfront team!

It's Day 4 of Camp 2 and we are in full Ecofun mode. Canoes coming back after learning basic paddle strokes, Pond study found more than 15 species, at low ropes they flexed into teamwork to swing their whole group onto a tiny platform.

WOW! so much to get out there, camp has started for the summer, amazing team, but I have a few facility goals I need a hand with this summer.

Seeking handy person for the summer till roughly end of August. Room and Board included. Enjoy the beautiful Okanagan summer with cool evening temps at elevation here at SIlver Silver Lake Camp. Willing to teach but must have attitude working with your hands on handy person stuff.

No the snow is not from today it is from December :)

It takes a village!
Amazing discounted woodchipper rental from our friends at under the direction of staff alumni "Beaver" with many current staff members and public volunteers to clean up our fire mitigation areas and create playground chips for the low ropes.
Some great work to weatherproof and make our "Honeymoon Suite" blend with camp asthetics by a Junior Forest Warden Amuni, a new staff team member (Turtle) and a Rotarian.
The camps Food Service Manager and assistant delivered amazing meals while her partner scoured camp for all those misplaced items and need to be dealt with recyclables.
Thanks to "Robin" and her friends (well Robin directed) for creating a pump well foundation ring as well as completing some puzzle work repairs on the firewood shelter roof.

Please join us in welcoming Crane back for his second year at camp as an instructor! He is an avid enjoyer of the outdoors and hopes to have another great year with the campers. You will often find him doing backflips and cracking jokes. One of his favourite things to do is leading hikes for campers.

Please join me in welcoming Robin back to camp. As our 2024 Program Manager she didn't complete a new bio so I stole this one from her 2022 application as it seems to really fit now!

This is my third (Now 5th REALLY?) year back at camp and I am more excited than ever, while I love telling people what to do and taking charge I also love to stay at the back of the group and make sure all the little things behind the scenes are being handled. I love being able to help the ones around me with any issues or problems they are having whether that be senior staff, a cabin leader or a camper! If you can't find me anywhere around camp I'm most likely in lodge making sure everything was cleaned up properly!

Heya! I am an absolute nerd with a passion for group activities, when i heard from my friend that she was applying here, I was super excited to apply. My passions align with the arts, singing dancing(however bad at it i may be) and acting are what i most enjoy, DND being my main hobby outside of school activities!

Studies like this one show how seemingly miniscule things and actions can have far reaching impacts on our environment. This one has good and bad results depending who you align with in the process, just like reintroduction of Wolves to Yellowstone corrected massive erosion problems but caused issues for neighboring ranchers.

I look at this from camps role in our community, we take this small number of young people and expose them to the wonders and IMPORTANCE of the natural world with hopes they will make profound impacts on our society and environment as a whole!

I spend this day hosting a group on the traditional and unceded territory of the Okanagan syilx people and wish to acknowledge the original stewards of these lands and those whom we give thanks to as our hosts. We encourage campers, staff and families to spend time today reflecting on this National day for Truth and Reconciliation. There are activities in many communities and today at noon there is a tour of the Sncewips Heritage Museum, if it is busy or you can not make it today check it out at other public times.

Today was all about end of camp chores, little dip in the lake to beat the heat but now it's raining super hard (We needed it) I was roused from my chair by the loudest bang it the world, thought a car hit the lodge at first. The lightning is infrequent and more sheet than bolt sonthats good for the forest.

The first big activity of the day after breakfast is the Osprey hike...

At camp every cabin gets a turn to be gophers, so when your camper gets home remember that they now know how to set the table, put out the prepared food, cutlery, and accessories and then scrape the plates, clear the table and wipe it down once dinner is done. Feel free to have them do this at home so they don’t forget for next year 🙂

Camp 5 - once the campers start to arrive things happen really quickly 🙂 🥾 🏕

Every cabin takes at turn at gophers, so when your camper gets home remember that they now know how to set up the table from scratch, put out all the food once it’s prepared as well as the condiments and accessories. Plus they also know how clear the table, scrape the plates and prepare them to be cleaned as well as wiping down the table once all that is done. Feel free to have them do this at home so they don’t forget for next summer 😀
