Sometimes the best way to reconnect is to disconnect, slow the pace, and just wander, letting every new discovery along the way become its own opportunity to stimulate the senses and nourish the soul. Ontario’s Highlands is only 2.5 hours east of Toronto and a half an hour west of Ottawa, but a world away from it all. Ontario’s Highlands includes Haliburton Highlands, Lanark County, Ottawa Valley,

and portions of Hastings County, Frontenac County, and Lennox and Addington. With our rugged and mysterious landscape, Ontario’s Highlands is the perfect backdrop for an unrehearsed day, one that is not easily forgotten, but is instead always cherished. Discover untouched wilderness, paddle our waterways, shop unique Ontario-made goods, taste locally-grown or crafted products, or stroll through our quaint towns. "There was a such a resounding wave of support from community members that helped me make what I’m doing now so successful.” - Akos Asare Good things grow in Ontario's Highlands – the diversity and abundance of the landscape easily explains the abundance of small farms, market gardens, berry farms, and even vineyards and cideries. The agricultural potential in this region was something of which Akos Asare (pronounced ah-kose) had no knowledge before settling in Deep River with her family in 2019, but it nevertheless has had a big impact on her family’s life here. The strong sense of community in Deep River and a burgeoning desire to strive for sustainability inspired Akos to found Re.Planted, a garden built from a network of underutilized front lawns.
