Good news!
The thaw period has been updated and will be over by the end of the week.
Starting Monday the 15, we will be back to normal size load.
Oh... and we still have lots of trucks available. Don't hesitate to ask for yours !

We had an unexpected surprise this morning: The thaw season was moved up to March 4.

So starting next week, you can expect that trucks will take about 10% less weight then they usually do. The end date will most likely be moved as well, depending on the weather. We will update you as soon as we know.

*We market your veneer.*

Our veneer resale program works like a co-op;

1-As we receive and scale one of your load, our scaler will tag every log that has the potential to be a veneer log and set them aside for a future sale. (The tag resale # will appear in bold on the scale sheet beside the log selected)

2-Every 4 to 5 weeks we have a veneer sale, rotary and slicer depending on the season. If one or more of your log is being purchased by one of the veneer buyer, we scan the tag and compile it with other logs selected to be downloaded in the computer. Each log is priced at absolute value so even if the scale is different (trimming or upgrading), the computer will make the difference between the selling price and the cost of the log (price paid + trucking + handling fee), and so determine the profit per log.

3- The next day following the veneer sale, we will provide you with a reimbursement report that we call: VENEER SALE REFUND. This report will clearly show all your logs that were selected during this sale. For each of the logs selected you will find the following details
- The load number
- The tag number
- The specie,
- The length,
- The diameter,
- The footage,
- The price paid per 1000’,
- The amount already paid for that log,
- The expenses associated with this log,
- The amount this log was sold for,
- The balance (your refund)

Note1: All logs selected for potential veneer will be paid for the same day as the load comes in. Only the difference will be sent to you if the log is being sold for veneer. If the log is rejected, you will not receive any other notification.

Note2: Please note that all species are not necessarily sold to a single buyer. It is possible that you have other logs called "potential veneer" which may be submitted to another buyer at a future sale.

Be assured that we are committed to ensuring that you get the best possible price for your veneer logs. Our goal remains on getting sawlogs from you as our business is on the lumber side.

This new application will allow you to :
- Always have our price list at your fingertips
- Track your current loads
- To be able to consult previous loads

In order to free up Annie, our dispatcher, and allow her to better serve you, we also want you to use this application to order your truck.

So, in a few seconds, you can tell her:

- Where is the load to be pick up
- Which species
- What type of trailer
- What is your loading availability?

Of course, we will continue to communicate with you using the usual methods of communication.

But keep in mind that by using the application, you will help Annie every time.

DEAD WOOD IS WELCOMED!
Did you know? We are accepting and buying dead wood affected by the gypsy moth. Main condition is they need to be 14’’ and bigger at the tip.

Here’s the species we are accepting:
- Oaks (red, black, white, chestnut, bur and swamp)
- Cherry
- Walnut

Diameter:
- Gross: gross diameter including the ‘’punky’’
- Net: inside the ‘’punky’’. Footage will be determined with this one.

Grade:
- We are calling one grade off most off the time since side defects are not visible, mostly due to rot

New loader in the yard!
Before the summer vacations, our crew had the opportunity to have training with our brand new loader: LH 26M. We aim at being as efficient as possible to best serve our transporters, our crew and suppliers. In order to do so, it was time to welcome a new loader to the yard. This is our fourth!
Here is a bit of history for the other 3:

#1 from 2001 with 37 944 hours
#2 from 2005 with 32 644 hours
#3 from 2015, already with 25 604 hours.

In case you were wondering, we are open all summer long and will be taking in logs without interruption.
We have orders to fill and are running on 2 shifts so if you have logs, let us know

It is now official:
Today is the last day of weight restrictions.
From this coming Monday, May 1st on, make sure to have enough logs to fill the trailers as you use to.

Et justement, puisqu'on parle de soins, AMEX offre maintenant à tout ses employés un accès rapide à une consultation en ligne avec un médecin (par clavardage ou par vidéo style Facetime) 24 hrs sur 24, 7 jours sur 7. La couverture s'étend aux membres de la famille immédiate (conjoint et enfants).
C'est ça, la façon de faire AMEX !!

AMEX takes care of it's team. And since we are speaking of care, AMEX is now offering to all it's employes a quick access to a doctor, online (by chat or video like Facetime) 24 / 7. The plan covers the employe's family (spouse and children).

Happy Friday everyone!
Please note that the thaw season officially starts on Monday March 20th.
For that period of time, truckers will load approximately 15% less weight then usual. But worry not: we won't be slowing down on picking your loads up.
For now, the end date is set on May 19 but it will most likely be adjusted, depending on the weather. We will inform you as soon as it ends.
