I donโt think a single picture can show the feelings and emotions when we have an opportunity to watch a grizzly bear mom with her cubs.
But as a trained bear-watching guide I'm also very aware of my responsibilities, especially in those unique moments.
Moms with cubs usually are fairly nervous as there are many threats around them at all times, especially in the first year.
Whenever I find a mom with cubs I instantly slow down and come to a standstill asap to judge the situation as they are easily disturbed. After watching them from a distance I get a good feeling if they are stressed or not and that will bring me to my decision in f we can get closer to them or not.
Fortunately I normally have guests which are full behind me in regards that we do not want to disturb the bears and sometimes have to accept that we might be only able to watch them from a distance. But often we are also lucky and the grizzly bears are totally fine with us as it was on this tour.
It might helped that we only watched them from a distance for some days, maybe thats why they trusted us and were relaxed around us most of the time during the rest of our season.
Wildlife always comes first and most of the time they honour our respect with beautiful moments like this one.

Impressions from a few amazing, late spring/early summer bear watching tours around the Broughton Archipelago and the Great Bear Rainforest, Traditional Territories of the Kwakwaฬฑkaฬฑสผwakw People, British Columbia, Canada.
Do not expect to see this on every tour but it is something you can see here in beautiful British Columbia!
