Today, on Truth and Reconciliation Day, we pause to reflect on the deep and painful history of Indigenous peoples in Canada. At our eco resort, we are committed to listening, learning, and proactively understanding this history.
We are proud to feature the Moccasin Identifier Mural, a powerful tribute to Indigenous heritage, generously supported by ECCC & Nature Canada and guided by Cynthia Brink from the Long Point Biosphere Priority Place. This collaboration with celebrated artists Azerine De Luca, Benjamin Swatez, and Indigenous artist Bezaliel Hill pays reverent homage to the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. The mural beautifully weaves together their creation story, a celebration of cultural contributions, and their harmonious relationship with nature. It also highlights local conservation efforts like the reintroduction of the Karner Blue butterfly, vital to the region’s ecosystem.
We encourage everyone to reflect, educate, and engage in meaningful conversations today. Together, we can foster a future grounded in respect, understanding, and unity.

Long Point Eco-Adventures opened it’s doors in 2009, with the launch of a brand new Zipline & Canopy tour. In 2010, the Observatory opened, and astronomy tours began to run in the evening on weekends. The Big Creek Kayak tour also launched in 2010 and Big Creek has affectionately become known as Canada’s Amazon with it’s amazing scenery and wildlife.
The company has continued to grow throughout the years, with addition of our glamping accommodations, (including Wilderness Suites, Wilderness Pods, and Camping Pods), and many other activities, both on-site and off-site. We truly have an activity for everyone! On-site activities include: ziplining, astronomy, apiary tours, ax throwing, mountain biking, and leisure cycling tours. Off-site activities include: kayaking, boat tours and fishing.
In 2011, the Burning Kiln Winery opened it’s doors, and a great partnership was formed. With the addition of great wine and food, our overnight guest packages were complete!
Long Point Eco-Adventures takes pride in the environmental leadership that can be seen across the site and on many of the adventures we offer. We have partnered with ALUS (Alternative Land Use Services) to create projects on site to protect the natural habitat that had been lost when the land was converted into a to***co farm decades ago.
We strive to continue to demonstrate our environmental and cultural stewardship through the education and story telling that takes place during many of our adventures on and off-site. Providing visitors with the history and heritage of the area provides a deeper understanding of the local landscape and the importance of the environment and the role that it has played in the local heritage and culture. In partnership with Burning Kiln Winery, guests are educated on the original and current uses of land surrounding the property; the lengths taken to continually improve the habitat provided to plants, animals, amphibians and other native species as well as how we plan to reduce our footprint on the beautiful space that we call ‘home.’
We now employ over 40 staff each season, primarily local youth, providing higher than minimum wage job opportunities in the outdoor education and adventure sphere. These positions provide a learning opportunity for guides as they are encouraged to expand their knowledge base and are given opportunities on-site to pass on their knowledge gained to other guides and guests. Through this practice, we provide sustainable job opportunities to local job seekers and in turn is work to build employee skills to increase their employ-ability for the future.
We encourage both staff and guests to be outside more often, be physically active and develop a deeper sense of understanding and respect for nature. Through school-based programs such as our nature hikes, guides and students gain a greater appreciation for our own backyards, and how we fit into these ecosystems.
As we grow, the need for products and services for the site also grows. We take every opportunity to use local, sustainable and handmade products for the site to ensure guests are provided with the highest quality experience and see the bounty that is being produced in Norfolk County and Ontario. Made-in-Canada merchandise is sold in our tuck shop and local craftsman create the rustic-inspired decor that outfits the pods. Even the pods themselves are handmade in Ontario.
Here at Long Point Eco-Adventures, we strive for continual improvement, hoping to grow and develop our employees and contribute to the growth of the local economy.
