β Due to forecasted weather conditions, fire bans will be issued for:
π« Redstreak Campground, effective 1:00 pm Friday July 12.
π« Kootenay National Park, including all additional frontcountry campgrounds and day use areas, effective 12:01 am, Saturday July 13. Backcountry campfires are never permitted in Kootenay National Park.
These fire bans include all open fires and prohibits the use of the following items:
βοΈ Campfires (wood or briquette)
βοΈ Barbecues (wood, charcoal or briquette)
βοΈ Outdoor wood burning stoves (including cooking shelters)
βοΈ Turkey fryers
βοΈ Tiki torches
Use of the following items are permitted during fire bans provided they are under direct supervision and certified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or Underwriters Laboratories (UL):
βοΈ Portable propane fire pits (prohibited at overflow campgrounds)
βοΈ Gas or propane stoves and barbeques designed for cooking or heating
βοΈ Propane or gas fueled lanterns (enclosed flame)
βοΈ Patio heaters (propane, catalytic or infrared/radiant)
βοΈ Candles
βοΈIndoor wood burning stoves within fully enclosed permanent buildings (not wall tents or camper vans)
Fire bans are removed as soon as weather and forest conditions permit.
