Our crew is small, but mighty. We have our Assistant Stage Manager Heidi Oostenbrug, and our light designer/stage manager Braden Guido.
Heidi joins our team as an ASM, and is new to this series. She has been wonderful to work with, and demonstrates a wonderful work ethic. This will serve her well in all endeavors.
Braden is really the glue that holds this all together. The future is very much bright for him, and we have no doubt that he will excel at the highest level in whatever he chooses to do in theatre. The Edmonton theatre community is about to get an all-star, and we look forward to watching him develop into a true master of his craft.
Rounding out our cast is Paul Sutherland and Jason Steele.
These two actors are the backbone of this series. They have appeared in every show, and both were instrumental in the success of this series.
Paul is perfection as an actor. His portrayal of Watson is incredibly deep and layered. Watch Paul on stage, and you will see that every thing he does is a choice that is based on the given circumstances, a total understanding of what the objective of the scene/show is, and totally correct.
Jason is Sherlock Holmes. Without a doubt, no one could fill his shoes in Central Alberta. I couldn’t imagine anyone else taking on this role, nor would I want to. He has taken this role and given it great depth.
Thank you both for everything.
Returning for a 6th time are Lorraine Stuart and Trysten Luck.
Lorraine is a wonderful person, and a charming actor. Her performance as Mrs. Hudson was perfect. Her commitment to the series has been a motivating force for everyone.
Trysten is not only a gifted actor that created perhaps our most likable character, but he also choreographed all of the fights in this series. No real way to thank him enough for his contribution and dedication.
Next we have Sarah Kuhl and Lee Weselak.
Sarah is a powerful and dynamic actor who has a tremendous amount of potential. She came in like a storm for her audition and continues to put forward compelling and complex performances.
The joy that Lee shows while playing someone truly evil is delightful to watch. He is easily one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Supremely talented and wonderful to work with.
Matthew Taylor and Rebecca Lozinski return to the series for their 3rd and 4th time respectively.
Matt is a gifted actor that understands the sense of play and exploration necessary to create a well rounded performance. His ability elevated the abilities of the rest of the cast and crew.
Rebecca is returning the the series with her 4th different character. One of the hardest working actors in Central Alberta, Rebecca always consistently puts everything she has into a role.
As Adler and Moran we have Kirstin Merriman and Ryan Mattila.
Kirstin brings a beautiful humanity to Irene Adler. Her performance grounds this production, and her positivity makes those around her feel welcome.
Ryan does more shows as an actor in Red Deer than anyone else. There is a clear reason for that: he is amazingly talented and an absolute pleasure to work with.
Next we have Michael Leek and Mackenzie Hudson.
It was been a joy to watch Michael grow as an actor. He is appearing in his 4th show as a 4th character. Michael approaches acting with a “yes, let’s” attitude, which will serve him well in future shows.
Mackenzie is the hardest worker in the cast. Her work ethic is unparalleled. She attacks each role she is given, and pushes herself to do better every rehearsal.
Time to introduce our cast and crew. First up are Jaret Pack and Eric Wilkerson.
Jaret is a wonderfully energetic and positive performer. He has an uncanny ability to understand exactly what a scene needs, and executes it to perfection. He is always a joy to work with, and we look forward to watching his career in theatre grow.
Eric is a newcomer to this series, but has been a supporter since the beginning. Eric brings a wonderful sense of play to this show, and has the great ability to add to a scene without taking away the attention.
Returning once again are Jason Steele and Paul Sutherland. They have played the duo of Holmes and Watson from the beginning in all seven shows and five installments.
Our stage management team is led by 5 time series vet Braden Guido, who is joined by Holmes newcomers Alexa Parker and Christiana Maranga as assistant stage managers.
Yvette VandenHeuvel is joining us for the first time in our hair/makeup department, and Gwendolyn McCagg is once again designing our amazing costumes.
Today we begin by introducing you to Trysten Luck and Lorraine Stuart, who are joining us once again. Both are in their fifth installment of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes series.
