As of May 17, 2024, it will be illegal to transport watercraft in British Columbia with the drain plug in place. This is part of actions to reduce the spread of invasive species like Zebra and Quagga mussels and the parasite that causes whirling disease from one body of water to another. Clean Drain Dry is an absolutely essential tool for all British Columbians who utilize our waterways for angling, boating, or paddling to protect our lakes and rivers. Many of these species are too small to be visible, so without ensuring your equipment is clean, drained, and completely dry, there’s no way to know if you are carrying them.
