Our family got very excited when we learned we might have the opportunity to see a comet ๐ซ that only comes around every 80,000 years, so on Wednesday night Heidi, Jack and I set out to the Davis Bay pier to find it.
Unfortunately, due to cloud cover, we had no luck. ๐ Last night, Jack and I decided we would try again, despite the partly cloudy forecast.
This time, we decided on the Roberts Creek pier, since it is a darker area. Using an app, we were able to locate the general area the comet was in, and then using my iPhone at a long exposure setting we were able to capture the comet in its full glory! ๐ฅณ
We were even able to find it, after a lot of trial and error, with a hand-held telescope ๐ญ
It was a truly magical evening that I will not soon forget, spent with my 16 year old son, who, for that evening, let the wonder of his childhood shine through (and I did too!)
