A big thank you to all our visitors for making this season so special! As we move into autumn, we are switching to seasonal hours at the Visitor Centre in Rocky Harbour. If you’re planning a trip, here’s what to expect:

The Moose Management Program for Gros Morne National Park opens on Saturday, September 21st. This program is essential for maintaining the ecological balance in our beautiful park and ensuring a healthy moose population.

Important safety reminders:

🔸Wear blaze orange: stay visible by wearing blaze orange if you're hiking or exploring the park.
🔸Stick to designated trails: stay safe by keeping to marked trails.
🔸Respect closures: some areas may be off-limits for your safety. Always follow posted signs.
🔸Be moose aware: keep your distance! Moose are wild animals, even if they appear calm.
🔸Report concerns: see something unusual? Contact park officials right away.

🚨Important notice for hikers - Wallace Brook/Green Gardens loop trail closure reminder🚨

Attention Green Gardens trail enthusiasts! We want to remind everyone that the Wallace Brook section of the Green Gardens Trail in Gros Morne National Park is permanently closed.🚫 Due to severe natural erosion, including landslides that have destroyed significant trail infrastructure, this area has been deemed unsafe.

This section of the Green Gardens trail from Steve's Cove to Wallace Brook has been off-limits since 2017. Please do not attempt to venture into these closed sections or former trails, and please don’t remove any trail notices or barricades. This closure is in place to ensure your safety.⚠️

The open section of the Green Gardens trail offers an incredible 9 km return hike with access to the stunning Green Gardens coast, including the beach, sea stacks, and a primitive campsite. 🌊🏞️ Enjoy all the amazing features that this trail is known for but remember to stay on the marked path.

🚫There is a $150 fine for trespassing on closed trails. Your safety is our top priority, and we appreciate your cooperation in keeping our park safe for everyone.

Bob Hooper came to Newfoundland for a year to study seaweed in Bonne Bay. That wasn't long enough and we're so grateful that he stayed on for almost 50 years! His vision for the Bonne Bay Aquarium & Research Station has put him firmly in the hearts and minds of the local people.
