🎶 What goes up, must come down 🎶

When hiking Gros Morne Mountain trail, it’s important to remember that reaching the top is only half the challenge. Being prepared for the descent will keep you safe from start to finish on this tough 17 km (6-8 hour) hike 🏁

🥾 After completing the Approach (4.5 km hike to the base of the mountain) and the Summit (806 m elevation gain over unstable ground including a 500 m scree slope), be prepared for another tough 2-3 hour (5 km) hike down the rough boulder-strewn Ferry Gulch and back to the trailhead.

While downhill, this section is challenging with uneven terrain and narrow trails. Be aware of your surroundings to avoid injuries and stay hydrated as there is very little shade. Wearing sturdy shoes with ankle support will prevent sprains from the loose rocks. Take your time and be careful while you enjoy the views ⛰️

📢 Remember to: 📢

🧴Bring 3 litres of water per person, and more on hot days. There is no source of water on the mountain.

⌚Avoid hiking on very hot days or leave early in the morning before it gets too hot.

💧Water from the brooks or springs must be treated or filtered before drinking.

Western Brook Gorge📍 - Located about 20 minutes from our property. In the summer, this is a breathtaking boat tour. In the winter, it is a scenic snowshoe trail that will leave your jaw on the ground. Don't take my word for it, look at the pictures below taken by Matt Collins HQ ❄️🗻
