🧡 You're invited to participate in a Healing Walk for National Truth and Reconciliation Day.
National Truth and Reconciliation Day is a day of remembrance and reflection in Canada. Observed annually on September 30, it honours the experiences of Indigenous peoples who were impacted by the residential school system. This system was established by the Canadian government and operated from the late 1800s to the 1990s, with the goal of assimilating Indigenous children into Canadian society. The schools were notorious for their harsh living conditions, abuses, and the loss of language, culture, and life.
This Indigenous-led Healing Walk will start at 1:00 p.m. today (September 30, 2024) at the Great Canadian Trail in Rockwood Park. This event is free of charge and open to all.
