Bay De Noc Kennel Club in Escanaba, Michigan is hosting the first part of the Challenge from August 9-11, and Bark Avenue Remarkable K9's in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario is hosting the second part from August 15-17. Both clubs are offering Speedway the day prior to their agility trials.

Happy New Year! If you are planning to camp at the Sault Ste. Marie KOA for any of our agility trials, please consider booking your campsite soon. As we've seen in previous years, campers like to start booking their summer vacations around the first of the year, and in the past week, we've seen a flood of July and August bookings, many for dates that cover our trials. We don't want any of our agility folks to be disappointed, so PLEASE book soon. 🐾

Be sure to send your pet's Christmas list to Chewy Claus. It asks what they would like for Christmas. Shortly after submitting it, we received an email saying that Chewy Claus will send our 2 lbs of pet food & supplies to Greater Good Charities for shelters & rescues across the nation. If everyone would take a moment to submit their wishes, so many pets in shelters and rescues will benefit this season. ❤🐾

Are you planning on attending the 2025 Can/Am Challenge in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario? Just wanted to give you a heads up that we currently only have two cabins remaining for that time period. (Speedway is Thursday, August 14th, and Agility is Friday through Sunday, August 15th to 17th). There is one two-room cabin available, which has one double bed and two sets of single bunks, and one couples cabin which has one queen bed. Both cabins are about a one minute walk to the restrooms. Reservations can be made online at www.koassm.com.

Well, the wheels sometimes turn slowly here at BARK, and this is one of those posts! The campground has been busy and I needed a minute to get this out, but we're now closed for the season and I can (finally) take a deep breath, and share this great news.

First of all, I'd like to thank all the wonderful people who so very kindly donated items for our silent auctions, and to all those who placed their generous bids. In keeping with tradition, BARK has also donated $1 per run for all events. I'm so excited to announce that a cheque has been sent to Smiling Blue Skies Cancer Fund in the amount of $3,034.00 on behalf of all the amazing people and their dogs who played at all of our events this summer. I can't thank you enough, and I know the researchers at OVC will put this donation to great use in helping to find a cure for canine cancers.

Thank you for a really GREAT Can/Am Challenge 2024. Thank you to our Judge, Art Malott, for such fun courses, and for the class challenges; it was truly a great time. And thank you to all those who attended from all parts of the continent!! We appreciate you coming to our neck of the woods! Thank you to all who participated in the awards ceremony and pot luck; there was an abundance of great food and great company. Thank you to all who volunteered their time to help with the trial; you are what makes things come together and you're so appreciated. Congratulations to all who won Can/Am awards, as well as C-ATCH's, 51's, Class titles, new titles, Q's and NQ's; each time you step to the line with your partner is cause for celebration, no matter what the outcome.

Thank you to my partners-in-crime at Bay de Noc Kennel Club, Lori and Ernie Genaw, for being the best to work with in plotting, er, planning for the Can/Am Challenge. We had our challenges this year with the CDC getting into the act, but common sense won out in the end and so many people were able to cross the border to play. Hopefully next year will be a little easier on us all.

Be sure to mark your calendars for the 2025 Can/Am Challenge - August 15-17, with Speedway on August 14. Can't wait to welcome you all again!

Don't forget! If you want to do the 2024 Equinox 5K, you must register with Do More With Your Dog! by the end of day September 30th. You have until October 31st to complete your run/walk. Just send me proof of your 5K (it can be done in several sessions), and then submit your request to DMWYD for your certificate. But register by this Monday or you'll have to wait until next year! 🐾

Here's a great new title from Do More With Your Dog! Equinox Explorer 5k 2024 (Run/Walk).

Celebrate the Equinox, the day in which we have equal parts light and dark, with the Equinox Explorer 5k Run/Walk fitness title. Register online at https://domorewithyourdog.com/DogTricks/product/equinox-explorer-5k-register/ by September 30. Complete your 5k nature run/walk by October 31. Once you've completed the walk/run, just send me a screenshot of your mileage tracker showing the 5K (can be multiple days, if needed). If you earned this title last year, you can earn it again and get your EQ24 title. There is a new logo and a different colored rosette and patch this year.
