A little Christmas fun in today's weather reporting for Waterloo airport - can you read the abbreviated Christmas weather that was reported this morning?

There are a number of airports in Ontario that issue aviation weather reports (METARs) and forecasts (TAFs). While these weather services only cover the area immediately around the airport they do give us an idea of the weather in the general area. The airports around us with these weather services include: London, Kitchener, Wiarton, Gore Bay, Hamilton, and Toronto City Centre.

Toronto Island is among our favourite airports to fly into on air taxi flights, especially when flying a group in for a Blue Jays game or a visit to the aquarium. With great views of downtown Toronto, Ontario Place, and the CN Tower, along with Toronto Island and Lake Ontario there's just so much to see - and it only takes us about an hour to get there!

Bruce Power is so interesting to see from the air, with the layers of rock bottom clearly visible beneath the crystal clear blue water. We can fly over Bruce Power in as short as a 20 min flight from Kincardine and Port Elgin or longer flights from other airports.

Fanshawe Dam and Reservoir, just north of London, was built in the early 1950s for flood control. It's an impressive sight to see from above, especially while approaching to land on runway 15 or 09 at London International Airport.

We often fly along the Lake Huron coast, which gives us a fantastic view of the changing shoreline and the cliffs south of Goderich. It's such a diferent perspective from the views you have from the beach or a boat!

Flying at a little over 100mph we can sightsee over a large area in a fairly short time and see so much more than you do while out for a drive. From Seaforth we can fly over Bayfield in a 25 min flight, enjoying sights of the Bayfield River, the town of Bayfield, the beaches and harbour, Windmill Lake, and often also have time to fly over Vanastra or Seaforth.

Other popular 25 min routes include:
Mitchell & Fullarton areas
Exeter, Hensall, and Staffa
Clinton, Hullet Marsh, and Seaforth
Or create your own route (at no extra cost) to fly over your farm, home, or other areas of interest
