Tyler and I got out for a sunrise flight this morning in our Cessna 172 before the snow started. With the warmer weather coming the landscape won't look like this for much longer.
If we get a good stretch of nice weather later this winter we may offer winter scenic flights on a couple of select dates, watch our social media pages for details if/when the weather and runway conditions cooperate.

Just dropped a passenger off at Embrun aerodrome, southeast of Ottawa. We've made a few trips to the Ottawa area to take passengers picking up new vehicles there.
Video is posted as double speed. If you watch the video clip with the sound on you'll hear the stall warning horn which is a safety system that warns the pilot if the airspeed is getting too slow - it is normal to sound on take-off and landing, especially since we use a soft-field technique.

Our pilot, Bart Postma, who spent 24 years in the Canadian Air Force, organized a Remembrance Day Flypast at the Goderich Cenotaph today with 3 other local pilots. All of the pilots involved have spent time with the Canadian Military and they were accompanied by 5 veterans, some of whom served in WWII.
This is called the Missing Man formation, which serves to remind us of the sacrifices of those who have lost their lives and it is a tradition which dates back to World War II. The plane in the number 3 position, which was Bart, peeled off and climbed away to honour those lost.
You may have also seen them during their practice flight yesterday over Goderich.

At first we thought this was localized fog patches when taking off on an early morning flight yesterday but it turned out to be smoke from a hay storage building (no animals were inside). This was just after 7am yesterday and the fire had broken out about 10:30pm the night before, according to a news report. The report also states that 75 firefighters were involved in fighting this fire.

New this year, we're offering part day trips to Port Elgin from Goderich and Seaforth. You get a flight along the Lake Huron coast with extra airtime, about 4 hours to enjoy the beach or the town of Port Elgin, followed by a return flight inland to Goderich for $345+hst for a planeload of up to 3 people (that's only $115/person in a group of 3). This is avaiable once a week from Goderich (and occasionally from Seaforth).
Port Elgin airport is about a 30 min walk (or $15 taxi ride) to the beach, bring a picnic and enjoy relaxing at the beach or wander into town for a meal and shopping. To walk to the beach take Gore Drain Trail from the airport and then Concession Road 6 to Gobbles Grove beach.
