The Man, The Myth, The Legend!

Bill Bridges (The Captain of the Ship) began delivering sod for NBQT in May of 2007. He was a diligent driver, making sure that customers received their orders in the morning, noon, and occasionally late at night.

In 2019, Bill stepped out of the driver's seat to bring NBQT to his family farm. He has been the Operations Supervisor of NBQT since that time.

What Can Homeowners Do to Help Keep Their Turfgrass Lawn Healthy?

The prime factor leading to pest insect populations causing damage is stress. To reduce turfgrass stress, follow good management practices such as:

• Limit heavy foot traffic causing soil compaction.
• Annually balance soil pH and maintain soil fertility levels.
• Irrigate as needed to avoid drought conditions.
• Ensure a good base of quality topsoil is used under the turfgrass.
• Use sharp blades and raise the mowing height in the summer.
• Regularly aerate your turfgrass.

Here’s your reminder to make sure you water your sod- Andrea

Good evening everyone. For Thursday, across the Maritimes any morning fog patches dissipate and it will otherwise be sunny, becoming a mix of sun and cloud in the afternoon with fog developing along the Atlantic/Fundy coasts, with fog and clouds moving inland over much of the region Thursday evening and night. There will also be a chance of showers/risk of storms over northern New Brunswick. Newfoundland will have an early chance of showers, otherwise remaining clouds clear and it will be mainly sunny. A mix of sun and cloud is forecast over Labrador with a chance of showers.

High temperatures across the Maritimes will range from 26° to 33° (humidex 31 to 39) except 18° to 24° along parts of the coast. Highs for Newfoundland and Labrador will range 22° to 26° (humidex 25 to 29) except 12° to 19° along parts of the coast.

What is the blend of our sod?

Our sod is grown from a 4-way blend of the following cultivars of premium certified Kentucky Bluegrass seed.

• 25% Endurance KB
• 25% Jumpstart KB
• 25% Right KB
• 25% Corsair KB

The sod is grown on high quality sandy loam soil in the Saint John River. The sod is categorized as #1 Kentucky Bluegrass as per definition of the Canadian Landscape Nursery Association standards specifications.

The nursery sod is grown, harvested, and transported using best management practices within the Turfgrass Industry.
