Thanks for the great review Cory! It’s true…The Bee View Suite is perfectly positioned if you want to check out the best beaches on the south-west coast of Vancouver Island. We’re minutes away from French Beach, Sandcut Beach, China Beach, Mystic Beach and if you drive a bit further you can get to Sombrio and Botanical. Can’t wait to welcome YOU to Shirley!

Andrew and Sierra hiked the Juan de Fuca trail then came to the Bee View Suite for a relaxing evening and a chance to soak in the private hot tub. The sample from Checkerhead Brewing was so tasty, they asked for more and we were happy to oblige. We can wait to welcome YOU to Shirley!

I counted 10 honey bees absolutely wallowing in the awesomeness of this very large red poppy in our yard today... It's like they're rolling around in a bath or something...they just seem so thoroughly happy! YOU GO GIRLS!

We’ve planted gardens around our property to flower at different times of the year. At the moment, it’s Iris Season! Such beautiful colours and amazing patterns. Just a little something to welcome you when you arrive. We can’t wait to welcome you to Shirley!

Joined the Capital Region Beekeepers Association a few years ago and this year volunteered to rescue swarms should any be reported in the area... This morning I got my first call and went out to give these bees a brand new 1 bedroom apartment with utilities included... As the saying goes... A swarm in May is worth a cart of Hay!

The full saying goes like this -

A swarm in May is worth a load of hay;
A swarm in June is worth a silver spoon;
But a swarm in July is not worth a fly.

This is a bee-keepers' saying from the mid 17th century; suggests that the later in the year it is, the less time there will be for bees to collect pollen from flowers in blossom, and the less likely they'll be able to build up enough population and resources to make it through the winter.

We are so lucky to have such wonderful flowering cherry trees on our property and they’re in peak bloom at the moment! You can see them from the private hot tub that goes with The Bee View Suite… Isn’t it time you treated yourself to a little bit of paradise in Shirley?

If you’re a surfer but don’t feel like camping on the beach, The Bee View Suite is the perfect place to stay. 10 minutes from Jordan River, 20 minutes to China Beach, 40 minutes to Sambrio. After hitting the waves, the private hot tub is a nice way to finish your day. Can’t wait to welcome you to Shirley!
