Our family story with Eagle Lake began in the early 1950’s when my grandparents rented Fay Boyd’s father’s cottage on Scarlett Road. Frank and Christine Speight fell in love with the natural environment and people of Machar and Eagle Lake. In 1953, the Speights purchased a lot and built the first log cabin. In 1969 my parents, Wayne, and Margaret Cunningham, built our second cottage on the family
property. When the property was transferred to my parents after my grandparents passing in the 1990’s, the family chose to use short term rentals to keep the property infrastructure were maintained.
