Safe drive, 99 open through Lions Bay

Lions Bay Road update from the DoSq: Cleanup of the affected area is underway. It is anticipated that the highway will remain closed for an undetermined amount of time (at minimum overnight) while the debris is being cleared.

ACCOMMODATION UPDATE from the RMOW: The Fairmont Chateau Whistler is ready to accept people at the RMOW Emergency Reception Centre.
4599 Chateau Blvd in the Upper Village.
Please park in Day Lot 5 as parking is limited in the surrounding area.
The reception centre will be in the Frontenac Ballroom. This is for those who have been unsuccessful in securing accommodation.
You will be registered with Emergency Services and staff will be asking questions to determine your need.
Please do not attempt to sleep in your vehicle. Thank you to the Fairmont Chateau Whistler for its kind support.

ALSO - Search and Rescue advise DO NOT attempt the drive north through Lillooet and south to the Fraser Valley.

Snowfall warning tonight (Dec 14) for Whistler and Pemberton, we could get 15 to 20cm in the valley and the wind warning for the Sunshine Coast has been lifted. Hwy99 may not open again until midnight tonight after the landslide that happened earlier in the day.
From the RMOW:
People are asked not to attempt to sleep in their vehicles. A reception centre is being arranged for those who have not been able to access accommodation through friends and family or a hotel. This is for those who have no other option. If you do not have accommodation, you will be able to register at the reception centre.
A location will be provided before 8 pm. You can also check Whistler.ca for updates.
